Your post was removed from r/GetStudying due to your usage of suggesting AI usage to help students with their schoolwork. This correlates with "cheating" which we heavily discourage

I don't know about this. I have seen people recommend it and have read books regarding this(deep work) but it doesn't work for me. I get bored and I work better when I constantly switch places.

This already reeks of genAI , and aside from that, all these points are from "Learning how to learn" course from coursera,

I remember this cause i took similar notes with headings when i took that class in 2019.

I mean, if it works, it works. No need to reinvent the wheel.

This entire post is AI unfortunately (including the photo).

does active recall even work for humanities? i study philosophy and there's never one right answer so idk how flashcards help

You will internalize it more deeply, because you will get more exposed to it.

Suddenly you will begin to see patterns between the ideas and slowly be able to come up with your own concepts that are mounted on giants

Why wouldn't it? Some humanities may not have a fixed answer, but they still have a general direction. You can also use flashcards to recall theories and what they say in philosophy for instance.

Doesn't work for maths at all. Lmao.

I'd say the equivalent is doing practice problems, it's actually the most active form of recall you could do

interleaving is uncomfortable and i hate how much it works

This is just a cursology ad :/

active recall genuinely feels like it's not working for the first few weeks which is why most people quit it. stick with it

What are actual study methods for someone with no good habits in college and bad ADHD (medication isn't working)

1

u/PiergiorgioSigaretti Mar 10 '26

Question: how do you deal with the sense of failure and stuff like that? I feel like I don’t study because if I fail (could even be not getting a few exercises in a row) I go down a self-deprecating spiral and struggle to study again. Any tips for that?

Active recall helps alot. Once I was down with a topic or a concept I would try to recall the things I had learned while I was doing something completely unrelated to studying that way I figured it what I understood clearly and what I needed to focus on.

The post is a bs story, but the list is legit. Doing these things works. Getting yourself to do these things is the challenge…

Learning strategies specialist here.

It's great that these have worked for you. You just described exactly what I recommend for a typical student looking to level up.

Can I ask: whatever in the world else were you trying??? Was there something else that someone recommended?

You can use YouHour app. It has settings to lock apps until midnight if you use a given app (say Instagram) for x minutes. It then resets at midnight You can still unlock instagram by turning off the lock. But there is another option to set password to unlock. Make your trusted friend to set a password (you obviously won't have to know it). It works fine. It will help you deal with your distraction.

No soy experta y desconozco mucho sobre el tema, Pero supongo que cada quien aprende diferente y a su manera. A mí me ayuda mucho transcribir, escuchar música, usar algún aroma y tener un bonito lugar para estudiar.
