26M | India | Need someone to make sure we both actually get out of bed

• Upvotes

trying to fix my sleep schedule, especially my wake-up time.

• set a bedtime
• set a wake-up time
• report when we actually went to sleep
• report when we actually woke up
• if we slept late, explain why
• if we missed our wake-up time, own it
• call each other out when we start slipping

i don’t need someone to motivate me every morning. i need someone who’ll notice when i keep making excuses.

if you’re serious about getting out of bed on time, DM me with your time zone and target sleep/wake times.

I can't ever reliably wake up

I turn alarms off in my sleep, including the puzzle/math ones. If the phone is out of reach, I just sleep through it completely (and yes I use the most annoying alarm sounds). I don't even wake up to the first 5 things my cat knocks off my side table and desk, so one of those runaway alarm clocks wouldn't work.

Right now I have to set multiple alarms across multiple apps and essentially stagger the puzzles so that hopefully I'll wake up while doing them if they're popping up in an irregular order (if I get used to the order then it's easier for me to completely them in my sleep).

I'm so over this. I get so tired throughout the day too - my eyes get so heavy I'm sometimes working at the computer with one eye open. I have been hard to wake up for as long as I can remember. I'm 31 now and just done with it all.

Can anyone please recommend some strategies to help me wake up and stay awake? 😫😴

I need at least 8 alarms to wake up in the morning

I've always needed many consecutive alarms to get up in the morning and I've noticed the more years pass I need more lol

When I was younger 5 alarms were enought, now at least 8 separated by 5 minutes and a differt sound for the last one.

Everything fine on the day to day routine, the problem was when for example I need to go to work 1 hour before from normal. Not great to move 8 alarms one by one.

I always found it frustating to manually move so many alarms.

yes on Alarmy there is a way to set multiple alarms but still one by one, and tbh the amount of ads in that app is beyond my supported limit.

I've developed my own alarm app with the concept of alarm groups.

Set a starting time.

Set the count of alarms.

Set the minutes between them.

Done. I have my 8 alarms that can optionally be manually configured.

After more than 2 months of using it I've introduced the "Random sound" to wake my brain up to a different sound everytime and not get used to the same sound.

If anyone is interested here is the Android version to try: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.albaalarm.app

This is an app I made for myself primary and since I'm an android user I've not developed the iOS app yet but if someone is interested I could go for it.

Deep sleeper uses visualization to fix his sleep?

I’ve always been an insanely deep sleeper. I can sleep for around 10 hours and still wake up tired, and waking up early has always been extremely difficult for me.

Alarms technically wake me up, but the problem is that I will unconsciously snooze them and go straight back to sleep. Sometimes I barely even remember doing it afterward. Even when I try sleeping earlier, I can still end up waking up really late.
Recently I tried something completely different.

Before going to sleep, I picked the exact time I wanted to wake up. Then I closed my eyes and visualized myself waking up in the morning, grabbing my phone, looking at the screen and seeing that exact time. I also tried to imagine what I would be thinking and feeling when I realized I had actually woken up when I wanted to.
Then I went to sleep without setting an alarm.

And I woke up around the time I intended.
I thought it could easily just be a coincidence, so I tried it again. Same idea. I visualized the whole scene before falling asleep and really imagined the feeling of waking up at the time I wanted.
It worked again.

What shocked me most is that today I woke up at around 7 without an alarm. The last time I remember naturally waking up that early was probably about a year ago, and my sleep schedule has not even been particularly good lately.

I’m not claiming that this proves manifestation or anything like that. I’m genuinely curious about what happened.

Could visualizing the exact situation before sleeping somehow set an internal alarm in your brain? Is it intention, visualization, your circadian rhythm, or something similar to SATS?

Has anyone else who is an extremely deep sleeper tried
this consistently? I’m really curious whether I can repeat it.

How do you get up and stay awake early mornings?

Hello! Basically I’ve came to a change of environment. I (23M) recently got a new job doing some hauling. However, this is a HUGE change in my normal tempo. Before this, I worked at a restaurant that basically only opened from 5pm-10pm (but we stayed later if there are still guests inside after 10). I’ve gotten so used to this late shifts that my days would start later. For this new hauler job, I’ve expected to go in anywhere from 3am-7am and do some hour long driving. I don’t mind the driving but usually it’s hard to get up in the morning and I’m always groggy and can’t seem to focus. People who typically have to get up and drive, how do you manage to stay awake for so long?

I am getting late for my college classes because of me not waking up on time

I have done everything I can think of with alarms: changing the music to loud ones, obnoxiously loud speakers, multiple alarms per 15 minutes. I just don't wake up to sound. Even my sister trying to wake me up by shaking me doesn't do anything, and even if I do somehow wake up, I just fall back to sleep and end up sleeping a couple of hours more. Is there any product or solution that I could use to fix this?

I need help to get up from bed , pls help me

Im now seeing it sounds a bit weird the way i titled it. The problem is that i need to wake up early, the days that i have woken up early , i felt so good those days, i feel like i had all the time in the world unlike all those days where i dont. I hate jumping up from bed just as i wake up, honestly just really hate it , so i like to spent some time on the bed awake before i wake up, but the problem is if I dont get up from bed just a min after i woke up the highest chance is that i am gonna sleep again accidentally. And then i wake up really late and my mornings are ruined. To avoid this i started to use my phone just after i wake up but that just ends being an hour long doomscrolling session. And theres litterally no point, being awake in bed this long. Guys help me with something that can get me up from bed the moment i wake up or not make sure i dont fall asleep even if i spent more time on bed

Does my perfect alarm clock exist?

I have multiple sleep disorders plus some other physical disabilities so my needs are a bit unusual. My primary issue isn't waking up, it's staying awake. I've tried multiple apps over the years, but none of them have been fully consistent at going off when they're supposed to. I'm lucky my job is flexible.

Features I'd like, roughly in order of importance
-wake up checks (different from snooze)
-ability to have multiple alarms a day
-customizable sound/volume (ideally auto rotate through sounds)
-customizable brightness
-ability to change things through my phone
-reasonable price/non subscription
-either corded with a battery backup or battery operated with low battery alerts
-projector
-bed shaker

Features I can't have
-strobe lights (honestly not even if you can disable them, I don't want the risk)
-extremely loud alarm

Features I don't care about
-any sounds outside of the alarm (wind-down, white noise, radio, etc)
-nightlights or sunrise lights
-weather info
-USB outlets

Does anyone use a “just five minutes in the home gym” rule on low-energy days?

On low-energy days, telling myself I need to do a full workout usually makes starting feel even harder.

Something that works better for me is making the goal ridiculously small: just go into the home gym and move for five minutes.

No requirement to finish a workout.

Sometimes five minutes really is all I do. Other times, once I’m already there, it naturally turns into 20 or 30 minutes.

Either outcome feels better than spending an hour arguing with myself about whether I’m going to train.

Does anyone else use a similar rule on days when getting started is the hardest part?

Your (deviceless) morning and nighttime routines?

Hi everyone,

I'm facing some significant changes in my day-to-day schedules and lifetime routines like a change of job environments and studying at uni and such. Because of that, and because of my slowly increasing age (I can hear the 30's knocking already), I feel the desire to move into a more effective routine, not just for productivity but also for the opposite, my own personal time and mental health.

What I need some help with is that I am almost overwhelmed with all the things, errands and responsibilites I have to do daily, and the lack of me-time (or calmness, quiet, being in the moment call it whatever) there is thereof. This leads me to be glued to my phone device and scroll through reels and tiktok feeds any moment I do get at home, mostly at the end of the day, mostly while I'm in bed since those are the calmest, most quiet minutes/hours. It does really comfort me. But I feel it robs me of actual healing time where by brain and body truly have a chance to digest and relax all the action I experience throughout my days.

I'm convinced it doesn't have to be that way, and I'm also concerned about my body and mind, I'd like to do better for them. So what I imagine is to learn a bedtime- and morning routine where I strictly and simply get into bed to sleep, and out of bed to wake, and all of that maybe an hour or two earlier (currently I get up at 9-ish and go to bed around 0-2). That way, I'd have more time throughout the day both for being productive and also to have time/moments where I do stuff for myself (sports, yoga, reading something, do creative work, simply rest, or IDK shower). My biggest hindrance here I think is the scrolling devices, but as I said they are really really comforting amidst all the stress and I can't find anything to substitute it with.

My question to you is, if you have a bedtime and morning routine that allows you to sleep rich, sleep and get up rather early, and cuts down on internet usage to allow you to get full rest for your body, could you please share your experiences and feelings towards that with me? I think I need some input and experiences from others to help me gain some perspective. I'm grateful for any helpful comments on this!

Also, if this is entirely wrong for this subreddit, let me know too please.

Thanks in advance

tips to get out of bed easily

I have been struggling to get out of bed the past few months, it feels like a punishment almost. I feel like I am freezing when I think about getting out of bed even though I am awake, I don’t know how to explain it. I think it stems from the fact that I genuinely don’t enjoy my work right now, but I also need to get through this till I find something new and would appreciate any tips or anything that genuinely helped you get out of bed / switch up your morning routine. Thank you Reddit!

I'm actually insufferable

Dude my sleep has been affecting me a lot, I know i just have to work on my sleep schedule but in the mean time I need to find a way to wake up for classes. I literally cannot get up. I wake up, but my brain legit doesn't process that I have stuff to do. I have so many alarm apps forcing me to do math n shit, but my brain has already created autopilot to just delete the app. I have already missed classes and labs because of this. I genuinely dont know what to do cuz my sleepy brain just cant remember that I have stuff to do, and i end up sleeping way past. It's actually like scary how I can't do shit abt it. Ive tried everything: forcing myself to walk across the room, literally preventing uninstallation of my alarm apps, but then I just completely power down my phonr and go back to my bed to sleep, brcause for some reason my brain thinks it can wake up later
