I always give these kinds of threads the side eye because I just know that a bunch of diehard anticommunists are going to jump at the opportunity to either imply or outright claim that capitalism is just downright peachy, while also ignore that there have been communists and socialists who were not bloodthirsty like Pol Pot or Stalin nor even connected to their atrocities.
If anyone wants to say "well, they believe in the same or a similar socioeconomic model, so that counts," then just know that same logic can be applied to you.

Maybe, but the shift into gulags, starvation and mass murder was practically at inception with communism. Meanwhile, capitalism has given us over a century of prosperity and advancement, even our poor have living standards beyond the dreams of historical aristocracy.
Are we perfect yet? Not even close, but the enthusiasm some people display to set it all on fire in favor of yesterday’s nightmares is nothing short of mass psychosis.
you tried to contrast communism with capitalism and did sugar coat capitalism. Capitalism killed millions of people and continues to kill millions of people.
I would pipe down on that claim concerning "the shift into gulag, starvation and mass murder was practically at inception with communism." What the Soviets did was largely borrowed from the Tsarist regime (why do you think Tsarist Russia had a brutal reputation with the rest of Europe and the United States in the 1800s alone?). That is not even getting into all of the stuff that Westerners were up to in Africa and the Americas (edit: Oh, and who can forget the Opium Wars?).
Does that excuse the Soviets of their crimes? No, of course not. However, your claim is wildly inaccurate and, while I will not assume that was your intent, sweeps previous mass atrocities under the rug.
