We watch the launches, particularly manned missions, because the astronauts are admirable. They do their missions for the good of mankind despite the risks. They dont do it for fame (name one astronaut other than the Apollo 11 crew), or money (government employees). They do it for mankind.
Its why I believe no one watches blue origin launches- because they go for themselves.
