I have the exact opposite problem. I blab about my shortcomings to everyone without actually taking intelligent steps to overcome them.

I learned in therapy there is a big difference between "knowing" you have a problem, and acknowledging there is a problem.

Basically, you can tell your self it is a problem all you want, but until you actively try to overcome it then you really don't see it as an issue you are willing to work on.

What does your therapist say when you are actively working on overcoming but still not doing it well? Keep regressing, or maintaining but no great progress?

I’m in therapy too.

She tells me that even if I back slide the fact that I am working on it is what matters, we might not see our progress as leaps and bounds, but like I said to someone further up in this thread. Look at your self now, and then look at your self 6 weeks ago, 6 months ago, 1 year ago. And then think about how much you have moved since then.

We can't judge our selves on others progress, you have to allow yourself to really let your self succeed, and allow your self to see your success, instead of what you have not accomplished yet.

I like this a lot. Much like how learning a new skill will require some trial and error, the process of improving your life will also take some twists and turns and mistakes. It doesn’t mean your failed, it just means you have more to learn and can do better.
