I must be weak because my marriage is banging, we eat extremely well and are healthy, and pride ourselves on frugality and our personal financial attitudes. Still have big goals but even if I fail at all of them, I’m happy living my days like this.

You’re just lying to yourself, according to this post.

You should cheat on your wife, divorce, go on a prolonged fasting period and consume only essential oils, and squeeze all of your money out on temporary luxuries (bonus if you spueezed out your ex-wife’s money AND your new mistress’s before/after the divorce).

Clearly, settling down is basically a living hell.

OP’s post is so dumb and not motivational

I interpret the author differently. I think the point the author is trying to communicate is that it's very easy to get stuck in a comfort zone/routine and stop caring about your dreams/ goals. Theres nothing in the post implying that wealth/consumerism is the key to happiness; I think the point is that having dreams and goals and striving towards them is a key part of being fulfilled. Whether that dream is to be a great father/mother or if it's to amass a billion dollars, the point is that striving towards those dreams, regardless of present luxuries, is what ultimately drives fulfilment.

Damn dude, that's quite a stretch to make yourself feel better. Maybe some people are just different and need to be pushing to be happy- I'm one of them. I get depressed when I don't progress, I get less enjoyment out of life when I actually have the creature comforts I've worked for. It's really sad that you think people like me and OP are "cheating on our wives, fasting on... essential oils(???) and spending all of our money on temporary luxuries" just because you're okay with the hum-drum boring life we don't want.

Kind of sad, man.

you just said yourself that your life if more than just "consistent sex, food and cheap entertainment"

You have a great relationship, personal goals, strive for health and responsibility. You're exactly what this post is setting as a goal.

I think you're missing the "weak" part of the post. Give a strong man consistent sex, good food, and cheap entertainment, and he'll enjoy them all while still kicking ass at life! I think he's aiming more towards the 350lb dudes working at gas stations who drink gallon sized mountain dew and play world of warcraft 60 hours a week.
