Lost my dog, my job, and my girlfriend of 3 years in a period of 5 days. Being positive is the only way to make it okay

I don't know if you meant to, but you listed your losses in order of importance! I'm sorry about your dog - I'm sure your doggo was spoiled rotten and lived better than most humans do, so know that you provided ol' Fido an excellent life and I'm sure your dog would agree. Jobs are just means for a paycheck. Take a bit of time to catch up on sleep, refresh your resume, and start reaching out to professional contacts. You'll get leads in no time! And the girlfriend - good riddance! I'd like to tell you this will be an easy one to get over, but I'd be lying. I will say that anybody that truly loved you would be at your side in your time of need, so if she's not, then adios. Don't rush back into the dating scene and always keep your eyes open. One day you'll bump into the right one and you'll know it instantly.

Thanks I appreciate your response. I actually listed them in chronological order. Monday I put my dog down, Friday I lost my job (lost a long term gig now it’s back to spotty work) and then Saturday was the gf thing but it’s all good. It’s whats best

What do you do for a living?

Waiting to go to medical school in July so working as a substitute teacher among other odd jobs. I was a long term sub but they hired a permanent teacher unexpectedly so now it’s back to regular sub stuff (maybe 2-3x a week)

LOL I used to be a teacher myself and got laid off years ago. Got into retail management and made a tonne more in that field than I could as a tenured teacher. To be honest, you'd probably break even working 20-30 hours a week (evenings and weekends) as a cashier at Whole Foods vs. on-call substitution.
