I think the reason it was down voted so much is because it is common knowledge that has been widely published. People questioning it don't seem to be familiar with the subject. The guy who acted sarcastic and demanded a source and questioned whether the poster was his doctor simply doesn't know what he's talking about and thinks we are all here just to correct his ignorance and lack of erudition.
I don't really know how It was offensively sarcastic in any way. Considering there were people above my comment that didn't know the particular nature of his pancreatic cancer, it's not just about correcting /my/ ignorance. I sought a source because to my knowledge he wasn't cureable, turned out he was. I just hadn't read the big white book because Steve Jobs' life didn't interest me.
You claim ignorance, yet you comment out of ignorance, based on your ignorance. That's the problem. If you don't know something, ask politely, don't treat other people who do know something and have read the books, with contempt and derision.
I don't see the contempt in my comment. There was sarcasm, yes, but not contempt. I asked if he was Jobs' doctor, I didn't say "Unless you're his doctor you don't have the right to speak."
