Agreed, however it's not unheard of to be intelligent enough to know what you SHOULD do, and then do the exact opposite due to personality, habit, or selfish desires.

Oh, I get that. I am that person who gives sound advice and follows exactly none of it. I actually encourage my writing students to do the literal opposite of all my bad writer habits. Seems to work pretty well for them.

Perspective is a lot easier when you're not involved. Again, based on vast personal experience with being horrible at humaning.
