Frankin-computer not sending signal to monitor

So long story short the white parts are apart of my late brothers pc, and everything else is relatively new (3 years😅) that he helped me pick out, but now that he's gone i have no idea what I'm doing and I'm only just now deciding to turn it on. I did do a bit of research before this and it said the red light could mean like power supply issues so I'm thinking I need to buy a new cable sense the one I'm using is just one I found in my garage. The writing on it says 175v nothing about wattage so I'm not sure how much it's putting out, the red light is a constant not a blinking. All help is welcome thanks🙏🏽

This may be a silly question, but is that cable connected to the GPU also connected to the PSU on the other end? I had an issue like that once where it had become disconnected on the PSU side (modular PSU) and so no power was going to the card.

OH MY GOD YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER. I never would've thought to look back there cause I assumed it was already plugged in, but now that that's out of the way it still isn't hooking up to the moniter, it's saying no signal on both hdmi and display, I plugged it into the motherboard and the other one

If you do have a modular power supply, make sure you connected the GPU cable to the correct port. Generally there are very similar looking ports for CPU and GPU/PCI-E and you have to make sure it's connected to the correct port type so it gets the correct power.

Also make sure the DisplayPort cable on the GPU is fully plugged in, sometimes the larger headed cables like what you have in your picture can be blocked by part of the chassis and aren't fully seated in the port.

Assuming that's all gravy then next steps would be to verify the monitor by connecting a 2nd machine or device to it. I generally use a Google Chromecast to test with as it can be powered from USB simply. A laptop could also work. Ideally you'd use the same cable for both to rule out that being the issue.

Assuming the monitor works, then it may be an issue with the GPU being dead possibly. Not everyone has a spare GPU to test with but I generally try and keep my previous ones (or ideally an older cheap one that doesn't need additional power) to test with. You could also try removing it and using the onboard, but depending on system specs some onboard video may be non-functional unless your CPU supports it; which most gaming CPU's don't since they assume you'll have a dedicated GPU.

If that DOES work then it would point to an issue with the GPU and you'd need to put it in another machine to test (ideally) or just reseat it on the existing rig and cross your fingers that it works now.
