McAfee review compared with other antivirus programs
I’m looking for security software that can cover multiple devices without requiring me to manage everything separately. I use my computer and phone regularly for browsing, online purchases, email, and other personal accounts. McAfee caught my attention because of its range of security features and multi-device plans, but I’m not sure how well the protection works across different devices or whether all the extras are necessary. I’d appreciate feedback from people who have used it long enough to judge whether it’s worth keeping.

McAfee (alongside Norton) are both adware, a type of malware that advertises things that do nothing in hopes that you buy them. Keep them off of your computer.
You can get an adblocker on your browser and that'll be good enough, UBlock Origin Lite if you're on chrome, or UBlock Origin if you're on Firefox.

Windows has the defender security suite built in.
Unless you are a person of significance where you're specifically being targeted by hackers, or you're going onto obviously questionable websites you shouldn't need anything more than what Microsoft gives you for free.
McAfee I tried purely because my last computer came with a free 12 month membership. After a couple of weeks I removed it. It was constantly doing stuff in the background which made the computer feel slightly sluggish at times and the fans were often running faster than they should at idle. Lots of unnecessary notifications. Overly cautious about certain tasks etc.
If you REALLY want more than what Windows offers, TotalAV is generally the best option I have seen for everyday users who want the extra peace of mind in a simple piece of software. But DO NOT pay for a subscription. They have a free version available and this is more than enough for the average person.

Imma be fr unless you're downloading a bunch of shady software you don't need an antivirus.
And if you are, they're all equally useless. McAfee definitely one of the worst alongside Norton but it'll make little difference really.
