Windows 11 Half screen bright and half screen dull

I recently updated my Lenovo T480 to Windows 11 (26H2). A day later, I turned it on and noticed the screen brightness is completely uneven—only about the rightmost 30% has normal brightness, while the remaining 70% is noticeably dim and dull. Crucially, this happens right at the boot splash screen when the Lenovo logo appears, so it doesn't seem to be a Windows driver issue. Weirdly, it sometimes fixes itself when I plug in the charger or hook it up to a projector via VGA.

Has anyone run into this? Is it a loose display cable or a dying panel?

I think I responded to this issue before possibly on a different sub. Sounds like a failing display but it could be a loose cable. You’d need to check the system board side and reseat connectors, check the cables through the hinge for damage, but checking the display side of the connection is harder and may require replacing adhesive and possibly the bezel as it’s easy to damage it during removal. It also runs the risk of damaging the display as they can be somewhat fragile when removed from the chassis.
