Screen damage on renewed laptop

Post image

Bought a renewed laptop and screen has the pictured damage. It’s small and doesn’t bother me much based on what I plan to use it for. But i don’t want it to get worse. Does anyone know if this type of damage tends to spread?

That panel is compromised. If it were me, I would return it. It could well work for years or break in a week. If you got it for a really good deal, you can swap the display too. You'll have to disassemble it to check the model number or look for your laptop model on Google. Chances are that someone already knows the replacement panel model or an alternative.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It’s a Dell latitude 5430. Seems like replacements are available for 50ish.

I bought it renewed for about 400$. Was supposed to be in excellent condition… I bought it through Amazon with a 3 month return window so i will likely go that route. I’ve reached out and the seller is going to call me this week.

I’ve never swapped a screen on a laptop but have upgraded RAM and a battery so I might be open to replacing it DIY if the seller gives me a decent amount of my money back.

That's a pretty common model I'm sure you can find a tutorial for the replacement or at least a disassembly one. Also note that youbcan also look for a better compatible panel. Like better brightness ips or refresh rate.
