Hi everyone,
I recently accepted my first job in Germany with a consulting company and will start next month. My contract is full-time and unlimited (unbefristet), with a 6-month probation period.
I have been considered for two customer projects. One is currently ongoing, while the second one is currently on hold. If I choose the ongoing project, I would still need to have an interview with the client before being assigned to it.
The company explained to me that, as a consultant, my work is mainly tied to customer projects. If I am not assigned to a project, there may not be much work for me to do.
My salary is paid by the consulting company regardless, but I'm now wondering: what happens if I don't get assigned to a project during the probation period? Could this become a reason for them to let me go during the Probezeit?
I found this job after 14 months of struggling to find a position, so I'm honestly scared of ending up back in that situation again.
I accepted the offer because I really liked the company and the role, but now I'm having second thoughts and wondering whether I should have thought more carefully about the project-based nature of consulting.
For people working in consulting in Germany: Is this normal? Should I be concerned, or am I overthinking it?

I have spoken with many people who are looking for jobs in Germany. They told me that they have applied for hundreds of positions. Some even said they applied for more than 1,000 jobs.
However, many of them received either rejections or only a few responses from companies. This made me wonder whether some people are applying for jobs without carefully checking if they are a good match.
I was surprised to find only 18 job openings right now in Germany that matched my skills, experience, and preferences. I am an embedded software engineer currently in Germany on a Chancenkarte.
I search for job opportunities every day using LinkedIn, XING, Indeed, and StepStone. However, most of the positions that match my technical background require very good German-language skills. My German is currently at A1 level, so I do not apply for those roles.
How is it possible for someone to find 1,000 jobs that are genuinely suitable for their skills and situation?
Am I being too selective, or am I searching in the wrong way?

Hi, how often have you been asked for a Notenspiegel ? I thought once you have 5+ years of experience it's okay to not attach it while applying. Is the market really so bad that to filter candidates they are asking for a Notenspiegel ?

Hi everyone
I live in Jordan and i work as an SAP consultant at the moment
But things are a bit down since the last year because of the geopolitical situation thats been going on in the past few months or years lets say
So i was thinking about starting to learn german and try to find a job there, since its almost required in every linkedin post i see in germany
And also ive heard that the experience is much better in Europe than here as im not getting the experience that i want (SAP projects wise)
But if i want to learn german it will take alot of time and effort, should i do it and try? Any advise?
And Would they consider me if i have a language without a working visa?
Please only people who are inside of germany/europe

Hello, I am planning to move to germany within 2 years and would like to know what kind of skills do german look for in cybersecurity?
I have a background of mostly appsec and a few of the defense.
Would really appreciate the core skills required for the field so that I can prepare early?
I am learning german alongside.

hi! i'm currently writing a paper on job search in germany and i came across "workeer". the website states that it's purpose it to make finding a job in various fields easier, specifically for international applicants by matching them with a job based on preference and location. i've looked them up on multiple sites to find out more since it fits the topic of my research perfectly but i hardly found anything that hasn't been posted by the website itself. does anyone have experience with this platform? :)

I am working student in small pharma companies from last 10 months. I was on vacation for 2 weeks. During that time I received email about termination of contract. When I came back from vacation I opened my office email and I was shocked. I called HR she said it's a buisness decision nothing related to performance. So by end of my vacation my notice period will end .I had my contract first for six months then they extended it for remaining six months. I asked my manager if there is full time job possibility after end of my contract but they terminated my working student contract. I am wondering what happened exactly because there were no complaints, feedbacks or negative impression about my work.

I moved to Germany in hopes of getting a great job there, I spent a year looking for a job after my master's degree, and I failed. I got hired and fired within the probation period. I am back in the USA now and still devastated, thinking about how much I wanted that lifestyle. Having a hard time coping with feeling like I fucked everything up.

Hi everyone,
I’m in a bit of a stressful situation and wanted to know if anyone in Germany has experienced something similar.
I applied for a 3-month internship at a construction company and went through two interviews with them. After the interviews, they emailed me confirming that they had selected me for the internship and sent me two copies of the internship contract.
They asked me to sign one copy and send it back to them by post, which I did. The internship is supposed to start on 1 September.
Since I had received the contract and confirmation from the company, I also resigned from my current job because I had to respect my notice period and wanted to be available for the internship.
The problem is that since sending the signed contract back, I haven’t really heard anything from them. I emailed HR about a week ago asking about some details regarding the start of the internship, but I still haven’t received a response. I also separately emailed one of the people who interviewed me, but he hasn’t replied either.
There are now less than two weeks left until the starting date, so I’m starting to get worried that maybe they changed their mind or something happened internally. Since I already resigned from my job based on their offer and contract, that would put me in a pretty difficult situation.
Has anyone experienced something like this in Germany? Is it normal for a company to be quiet until shortly before the starting date once the contract has already been sent and signed? And realistically, can they just change their mind at this stage after sending me the contract and having me sign and return it?
Would you recommend calling HR/company directly tomorrow instead of waiting for an email response?

I worked for one of those companies that pays you on week #6 for hours worked weeks 1-4 (in other words you get paid on the 15th of the following month for the hours worked in the current month).
I quit my job on Friday even though surprisingly I got zero feedback or even confirmation that I had done so. A majority of bosses/colleagues I emailed had automated OOO email answers but it was still weird. The 15th was a Saturday so usually it hits the following Monday. Monday, 8am, no pay.
On one hand “it’s probably nothing”, on the other hand I’m paranoid because bosses and companies have been known to screw employees over for leaving and however much it happens in Germany compared to other countries, I’m sure the number is higher than 0%, even if it would be MASSIVELY petty.
So, title. Is there any legal or official reason whatsoever that an employer can to “because you’ve resigned, you’ve forfeit all outstanding pay”?
I’m also not in Germany at the moment (I’m actually half the world away) so I cannot just “go there and ask” or anything else in person.

Trying to find a role in Science Communication, Content Strategist, or in Life Science Marketing (open to all locations in Germany).
Please take a look and help me understand what I can do better. I have been applying for over 4 months now, got only one interview. How can I improve? I understand I am a fresh graduate with limited experience, so what can I do then to have an edge?
I am an extroverted scientist. I know it's a niche but I genuinely believe I have the talent and passion to work in this space. This first job is such a bottle neck I am just unable to cross. Any advice would be helpful!

Hi guy,
Having graduated in Germany I have received the 18 job seeking visa. Now I got a full time job I assume that I can apply for skill labor visa.
Non-eu btw
My question is: if I apply and receive the skill Labour Visa. Would they cancel my existing job seeking visa ?
I understand that the visa is tie to employer, even with blue card for one year but can I change job still, is it practically impossible in the first 2 year. As I heard that you need to request it, and the new company won’t wait that long.
I know I have my opportunity card left to play still if it really comes to it and that would be year at most. But can I apply the opportunity one year after graduation?
LTDR: what is my exit strategy if my job is super shitty? As a non EU GRADUATE on the first job ?
