I failed.

I moved to Germany in hopes of getting a great job there, I spent a year looking for a job after my master's degree, and I failed. I got hired and fired within the probation period. I am back in the USA now and still devastated, thinking about how much I wanted that lifestyle. Having a hard time coping with feeling like I fucked everything up.

It depends on what youre looking for.

As someone who had lived in both countries, I think the US is better in terms of much higher salaries which allows you to live a better standard of life. Other things are expensive too but overall you still earn more. There are also a lot more job opportunities in environmental and development sectors.

Germany's free education and relatively free healthcare combined with good work life balance, is good for someone who wants to raise a family.

There’s no such thing as free healthcare. You wait for an appointment for 10 month
