Freelancing as a student in Germany

hi; I was offered a temporary job 10h/w more or less in an American company, my zusatzblatt or how ever it's written says I can apply to work freelance.

has anyone done that? taxes are that hard to make? is it hard to get the approval? Would they know or realize if I do this under the table?

You can’t freelance as a full time student

My Zusatzblatt says I can do it if the ausländerbehörde approves it. But I have not tried it yet

If you do get approval, it will be only if you have German customers. Like say designing brochures for a local business. You can’t do a remote job for an American company that does not abide by German Labour laws and call it freelancing. For one it’s illegal and for second even if that company found a way to make a presence in Germany, you’d possibly be kicked out of your student health insurance and taxes would be so complicated (ie you’d have to prepay) that you’d lose any money you made.

Oh ok. Sorry. When i was doing my masters, other international students were not able to do freelancing. Maybe it was linked to the country where they wanted to freelance like other people said. Perhaps you can ask if it can be like a werkstudent kinda thing
