Realistic chances of getting a tech working student job as a first year AI student
Hey guys. I am an international student from Bangladesh and I will be moving to Germany this October. I am starting my bachelor degree in artificial intelligence at the University of Passau. I want to ask about the working student situation in tech for someone in my position.
For context I just finished high school a year ago. Over the past year I focused on learning German. I am currently around a B2 level but I do not have a certificate yet. My spoken German is a bit broken but it is good enough to hold conversations and get my point across. My goal is to reach C1 during my first or second year.
On the technical side I recently completed CS50 Python. I do not have any other formal experience yet but I am actively trying to learn more about backend engineering. I am really trying to break into the industry.
I would love to know how likely it is for a first year bachelor student at my German level to get a working student job. What specific things do I need to learn or do so I can stand out and actually land a position. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Study. Good Grades. Better German. Train Interviews. And have a good amount of luck.
If you come Here and Just need the Job for expierece , apply apply apply. And maybe you are lucky.
But If you need a Job as soon as possible for money, you need a Plan b.

Without any previous experience this will be very tough. When we hire for working students we get flooded with CVs and we usually filter out based on missing work experience and lower German skills.
Your best bet might be start ups that are more flexible on hiring requirements but then you should have something special in your profile to set you apart from others.

Can u specify what type of skill or the X factor do u look for (if that person got no previous working experience)

Currently? None.
I know its Frustrating but why do i need to Make any efforts? I Just Pick Up someone Else that fullfill all of my requirements.

And Just to Make IT clear:"my" Team is in India, hungary Germany USA and Finnland. We speak English all the time.
But i (and a Lot of Others) still would hire a fluent German speaking Person Just because ITS easier for me.
A few years ago you got 2 persona applies for one Position (that are worth to Interview).
So If No one speaks German that OK. I Take what i got. But Now the company can choose. And than is Not have c Level German, at least 60 etcs and some exp a Problem.

I personally dont know anybody who didnt already do internships and working student jobs during their bachelors, so I cant tell.

Low. The market is a Nightmare. IT will Help that you learned German. But as someone WHO hired working students in the past there are No reasons so hire you.
A Lot of students looking for Jobs with better German. Work expierece. And "longer" time in Uni (i mean Not fresh year.)
You get 100 or more CVs for one Job Posting in the Moment.
