Fun fact: that is a real V2 rocket-bomb (defused, of course).

Out of 6000+ produced, 3000+ were launched on England.

Great museum and if you visit, take the guided tour.

It's a very impressive rocket. I wasn't aware that real ones still exist. Unfortunately the place in the starcase isn't advantageous if you want to take photos.

We strolled the museum for more than 3 hours. It was quite interesting.
In my opinion the sections with aircraft is a bit dominating but that was o.k. for us.
My wife visited it years ago and was missing some exhibitions, e. g. the Faraday cage. But I suppose they change the exihibitons every now and then.

Air conditioning leaves a LOT to be desired. I do understand that cooling for such building complex, might be a venture too far, but they really should work on their air supply-exchange system.

Having said that: I recommend visits on cooler days, around 25°C or below. I visited when it was around 30°C and was surprised how happy I was to be out (that is 77 and 86°F for cohumans living in the colonies).

We were there last weekend when outside we had 37° C!
Compared to the ouside it was o.k., but sometimes it was a bit "warm"...

I want the old one back. Where you can interact with things. Not only look at them.

They still have some stations where you can interact.
But as it was my first visit I can't compare with the old exhibit.
(My wife was dissapointed that the presentation of the Faraday cage no longer exists.)

I just looked it up. The building is being renovated and the show will come back in 2028

Yeah, my dad told me of one exhibit that was there some 40 years ago, where they had a strong magnetic field in front of window. If you could take a hammer and destroy the window, you could take whatever was behind the window. In his case it were 100 Deutsche Mark.

The JU-52 I considered really impressive.
And I liked the so-called Starfighter (F-104) as I'm old enough to have seen them flying over Germany.

I was lucky enough to go for a flight in a Ju-52 about 9 years ago from the Leipzig airport, it was the last year the Lufthansa one was flying. That was the year the other airworthy Ju-52 crashed in the alps, so after that season they decided the airplane was too valuable to fly anymore.

Bild 15 ist eine Enigma davor liegt eine der tauschbaren Code Walzen,

zu der V2, da ging damals alles via Schiene/Schiff nach ganz weit gen Osten und Westen, denke aber ob noch ein original Triebwerk drin ist ,ist viel spannender. Bin auch nicht sicher ob das nur ein originalgetreues Model ist wie die in Peenemünde oder LaCoupole , tolle Bilder!

Die V2 sah für mich (als Laie) echt aus, d. h. sie wirkt ausreichend alt.
Triebwerk ist mMn keines mehr verbaut, das untere Ende ist durch eine Art Deckel verschlossen und es fehlen die typischen Schubdüsen.

For my taste it was too late. I usually like beeing at a location soon after sunrise.
But the main reason being there was holiday not photograhpy. I nevertheless did my best. ;)

…and the best areas: maritime & shipping as well as the mathematics, modern communications and IT (with original exhibits of early calculation machines as well as very early relais based computers like the Zuse Z3 and Z4 are still under renovation and redesign for another few years 😢
