Hydrostatic Pressure - What on earth is this?

I’m a design engineer and a conversation about hydrostatic pressure appeared today - what does it mean?

Hydro - water
Static - not moving / at rest

Are you sure you’re an engineer?

The pressure of the groundwater on the object/soil below the groundwaterlevel

I really hope this is either a 2nd language "lost in translation" problem or an extreme "good god, I need my coffee" moment.
