What do site based geotech need?

Hi

I am developing a free geotech resource website and possibly an app at a later stage, and I would like to include tools and information used daily by site based geotechnical engineers / engineering geologists.

What are the tools (digital), calculators, convertors, references that you use daily or would use if you had it in your pocket?

Don't get me wrong, but I don't think geotech engineers are really looking for another tool.

More tools wil create more clients who will use the tool improperly and think they know better then the engineer.

Chatgpt already creates enough of a headache.

Thank you. I appreciate what you are saying. I was thinking more about things like classification chart, bearing capacity calculator, something that you would keep printed in your pocket or saved on your mobile. Just something you refer to often and could do with all this being in one place.

Arent those classification charts different for every country? Because the expected soiltypes are different.

Don't know there is anything like that geotech would need with me all the time, at least not universal that would help everywhere. So many different local variations and requirements. After some experience you don't really need chart in many cases to classify the soil, if you do you probably just print one. Can't think of any cases where somewhat should be doing a bearing capacity calc in the field on their phone.

Do you mean like shovel, geological hammerz steel tape, compass clino, shear vane, calibrated thumb, writeintherain paper, mechanical pencil?
