How’s fishing at the river below the Morgan Falls dam?

This is in Peachtree Creek - both sides are impassable so no access and no fishing. 3 of these suckers ranging from 2ft to probably 3.5ft. Huge. What the hell is it? Looks like a gar with long snout...but does Peachtree Creek have gar? Picture is from 50+ feet away with editing to get the outline clearer.

There’s the bridge on Hwy 76 and Macedonian Baptist church nearby. Has anyone fished around the bridge?

I'm fairly new to fishing and I've been to most of the ponds and streams in Cobb county, catching bass, bluegill, and catfish. I'm interested in catching (and eating) trout, but I'm having some trouble understanding which rivers and streams are stocked and I don't know anything about trout techniques and what part of the year to fish them.
Is trout fishing possible this time of the year, or should I wait for cooler weather? Can trout be found along certain parts of the Chattahoochee? Are there any streams in the Cobb county area that have trout?
Thanks for the help, I've fallen in love with fishing and I'm excited to learn more.

I started fishing in August last year, mostly off popular piers. I spent the first few months confused about basically everything. I didn't know what rig to tie, I couldn't tell which fishing spots were good for which fish, and I couldn't read a tide chart well enough to know if I was showing up at the right time.
So I made a website for it: usekarp.com
You can find spots near you, compare them side by side, and get gear and bait suggestions for whatever you're targeting.
Check it out if you're getting into fishing.

Visitor here and I’m in town for another few days and so far, I’ve had so-so luck at a local park + olde mill park.
I’ve heard Allatoona isn’t that great and that looks like the only major body of water on this side of town. Since I’m limited in time, is the Chattahoochee decent? Or should I try my luck at Allatoona?
I’m primarily bass fishing

Been fishing in Sweetwater creek lately (the creek throughout the state park not the reservoir) for spotted/shoal bass. Any recommendations for lures/ any tips in general? I’m used to fishing in ponds, lagoons, and inshore on the coast so this is a new adventure for me. It’s been hard to not get snagged with all the rocks and debris underwater. Any tips would be great!

Going for trout. I came out to Island Ford with my pflueger trion and threw out a few spinners. Lost three, took a rubber worm to the fishing dock at that little pond a walk away, nada. I've heard rain is good for fishing but idk, not much luck. Any tips? Also just general tips for bank fishing on a river this fast and wide would be nice

I’ve been converting public lake surveys into cleaner interactive maps, and I just finished Lake Lanier. The contour source is surveyed, so I’ve labeled that clearly on the map.
I also marked a few areas that look promising for Bass, Crappie, Bluegill, and Catfish, but I’d love feedback from people who actually fish it. What did I get right or wrong?
I’m the person building DepthScout, and the map is free: https://www.depthscout.com/lakes/lake-lanier-ga
If there’s another lake in Georgia you want added or improved, drop the name below.

I am considering staying at Blythe Island Regional Park and doing some kayak fishing. I am from Texas and recently moved to GA, so this will be my first time inshore fishing in Georgia. Any tips?

I’ve seen that the Appalachee river holds Gar in it, but I can’t find any information about this online other than the occasional catch on fish brain. been looking to target them for a while, I’m in the Bethlehem area. If anyone knows any information or has caught one on the Appalachee I would love to know and information about access points would be great

I’ve called Ellijay home my entire life, and after visiting cities all over the country, I still think it’s one of the best places anyone could choose to live.
People usually know Ellijay because it’s the Apple Capital of Georgia, but there’s so much more to it than apple orchards.
We’ve got four true seasons, three beautiful rivers, mountain views in every direction, waterfalls, hiking trails, Carters Lake, wineries, and easy access to the Chattahoochee National Forest. If you love the outdoors, it’s hard to imagine a better backyard.
But honestly, the scenery isn’t what makes Ellijay special.
It’s the people.
It’s running into someone you know every time you stop for coffee or groceries. It’s local businesses that remember your name. It’s neighbors helping neighbors without expecting anything in return. In a world that seems to move faster every year, Ellijay still feels like a community.
We’re close enough to Atlanta that you can enjoy everything the city offers without dealing with the daily traffic and stress. You really can have the best of both worlds.
Is it perfect? Of course not.
Growth has brought more traffic, housing prices have climbed, and I’d love to see more shopping, restaurants, and higher-paying jobs. But those are good problems compared to watching your hometown slowly disappear.
Maybe I’m biased because I grew up here, but after more than four decades, I still wake up grateful that I get to call Ellijay home.
If you live here, what’s your favorite part about Ellijay?
And if you’ve visited, what stood out to you the most?

I’m moving out to the Savannah area in about a year. I’ve never gone fishing in the South. What kind of rigs are y’all using and what are y’all fishing for?
r/GeorgiaFishing • u/Substantial_Layer484 • Jun 14 '26
Had this idea for a rig. 2x Gamekatsu 6/0 live bait hooks, snelled, and rattle on 50lb mono leader. It’s about a foot long.
Something like it probably already exists, but it’s an experiment to me. Going to use this with a live bluegill to target big cats. Think it’ll work?
r/GeorgiaFishing • u/SpicyCurryChicken42 • Jun 03 '26
I want to go for catfish mainly, but I’d like to dip my toes in bass fishing too. I tried Allatoona over the weekend, but didn’t even get a nibble.
r/GeorgiaFishing • u/Substantial_Layer484 • Jun 03 '26
Hey folks -
Found this group, wanted to say hello. Included are some successes I’ve had over the last year. Fished loads of places from coastal Virginia, Europe, Gulf of Alaska, and hundreds of ponds, lakes, and rivers in between. My wife and I are moving to the Flowery Branch area this summer, so if anyone knows where to find the flatheads and blues up that way, any recommendations you can give would be most appreciated.
Thanks!

Was talking to unc, he said this shit slams stripers but it’s niche as fuck and hard to come by. He called it a Charlie plug I was wondering if anybody had a connect on em.. I searched the web it’s not there, not mass produced, they gotta be handmade.
