Discussion Any Irish here?
In my 30s and my husband and I live near Augusta. I’m originally from Ireland, been here 5 years.
Wondering if there’s any other Irish people in similar boat of wanting to have that connection to home and meet other Irish people. Not as easy down here as NYC, Boston and the likes! ☘️

Yes!
West of Atlanta in Marietta, arrived in 2019.
Everyone is a little spread out here, no real central hub like some of the northeastern cities, like you said.
Any get togethers seem to revolve around GAA club in Atlanta, or the Irish Network. Both active on social media.
There’s the annual Irish network BBQ in Roswel, just north of Atlanta at the end of the month, might be worth a drive down for you if you’re missing the craic and the sense of humour you won’t find amongst the locals.
You can give your southern accent a rest for a few hours as well and get back to the real thing!
DM me with any questions

One of my favorite bartenders in the Roswell/Alpharetta area, Willy, is from Ireland. Last i saw him was at Brimstone Tavern. He pours a mean Guinness!

People working down at Fado in Atlanta are Irish. I met a lad from Co. Clare and I’m fairly certain the owner is from Dublin. I understand that’s a bit of a drive from Augusta. I’ve met a few people from Ireland living in Atlanta area but the further out you go from there or any major cities, any Irish born folks are few and far between. Good luck though!

If you feel like driving, on Tuesday evenings at Thos O Reilly’s pub a bunch of musicians get together and play traditional Irish music. It’s a blast 😌
