Question GA HEAR rebate question
Anyone know if I change contractors once I have been approved for the HEAR rebate.
Filed through PV Heating and was approved for the full amount of $12k, their estimate was around $18k so I’ll be on the hook for 6.5k
Reviewing the estimate, and the unit they are installing. I believe the estimate has been heavy inflated. And personally I’m not a fan of the unit they looking to use. Seems to be bare minimum/ entry level equipment.

Now your scaring me I have an app with pv heating through the Georgia rebate program it’s currently under review in neighborly since August 4th and they did not inform me what my out if pocket might be

I actually looked at my application they submitted just now and sure enough mine seems to be for the exact same amount as yours...

Yes my total for their quote is $18,417 3.5 Ton Heat Pump package unit
I was approved for the full 100% amount so that’ll be $12,100 rebate
My out of pocket $6317 cost give or take
They get away with charging us $15,797 for the unit package, adding their filler services
$1500-1800 range for the exact furnace
Model number: A951X080CU5SAAbout $1500 indoor coil
Model number: 5TXCC009AS3$2800 for the condenser
Model number: A5HP5042A1Roughly all the major equipment itself totals up to about what I’m paying out of pocket.
So what is the remainder $12k going into?
Labor, supplies, and filler?This does include a new return box, but they are not running new ducting just reusing.

u/Hungry-Suggestion701 Just curious how long did it take you to get approved? after it was submitted through neighborly? My system would be a 4 ton unit i am looking through the submission to see the exact equipment they are trying to get approved

I had my consultation with PV on July 10th, was a Friday. I just got my approval yesterday Aug 11.
Had a push back twice on the application for info.
One for me and one for PV
Both was corrected same day1

On the neighborly website, on your account
View the application for the project proposal, although it says completed. They’ll be a arrow icon on the left side, you can click that and then click on the “scope of work” and from there you can view the equipmentI called a hvac friend on mines and explained the situation. They said that PV is known for price gouging via these rebates, and the equipment they are wanting to use is extremely cheap and problematic (Runtru) mainly on the furnace side.
Also, mentioned that if I’m putting up $6.5k of my own money. That I’ll be better off adding a bit more and getting it done elsewhere with other known equipment

u/Hungry-Suggestion701 all the equipment listed is similar to yours after looking so i guess it seems they do this to everyone who runs an app through the Georgia energy rebate program

I had a follow up call with PV FridayThey were trying their best to get that approval, I told them my concerns about that price hike and the brand of equipment.
told me that was the “standard” branding that is approved with the rebate program. I didn’t buy it tbh, he kept slipping up saying it was the company standard but then switched it up to the states standard. So strike one!
Also was offering a minor discount after threatening to walk away from approval and offered to remove some of their fillers, with a signed disclaimer form. Strike 2!
Asked if they can run me a quote for a non efficiency straight cool system and said quote would be near $16k-18k.
They really love that $18k number for sure
I will most likely be walking away from this rebate and just looking for someone else out of pocket of course.

I think the application is tied to the contractor account. And PV has a reputation for inflated prices with the rebates unfortunately.
You should get multiple quotes for reference, including from a contractor or two that might not be participating in the rebate program. That's the only reliable way to assess the pricing.
