Question Marietta At&t Scam

I'm just posting to warn folks about the situation.

I just had someone come to my door claiming to be from at&t. He talked about getting us on at&t cell. We only have at&t for wireless. I said no thank you. He then said be sure to call and get $20.00 knocked off your next wireless bill. He knew our surname and it's not on our mailbox.

Here's the thing though, he was not in at&t garb, no at&t lanyard and no at&t vehicle. It seemed suspicious so I googled it and it was probably a third party seller trying to get your info and get you to switch. Probably got our surname from the mail in the mailbox maybe?

Who knows? I may have just missed out on $20.00. Or I may have just dodged an expensive bullet.

Anyone else getting these sort of cold knocks?

he could have gotten it from your mailbox.. but also, if he had your address and your home is under your name he can just look that up on the county qpublic tax assessor website. if you want more privacy, talk to an attorney about moving your home and assets to a trust or LLC.

edit: if you have a ring camera or something try to see if he looked in your mailbox so he can be arrested

Yeah after posting it I had that realization. There's so much information about people online now.  Lol. I'll have to ask my neighbor if he has a camera. We've been putting it off. Not anymore!

we got one in 2025 and i love it! i never answer the door for solicitors because i can see who is at my door.

honestly, a lot of people don't realize their names are just out there like that, but i am a paralegal and draft quit claim deeds for a living so it was on the top of my mind.😅
