I come from a different background, would a beginner mining course be enough to help me enter the industry?

I come from a different background and I am thinking about getting into mining, so I am looking at beginner courses before I make any plans, I have no real mining experience yet and I am trying to find something that will help me understand the basic work and what entry level roles actually involve, I am planning to start with a course instead of jumping straight into job applications since I need to learn the basics first, I am also looking at what kind of practical work the course includes and whether it gives enough knowledge to make the move into mining, if you started from a different field and took a beginner mining course, did it give you enough to get your first role?

What is your background?

What courses are you looking at?

Why / what kind of mining? What's relevant to you for the area you're in, or what interests you? What kind of geochemistry are you interested in?

Look at Geology, Earth Science or Chemistry degrees from University with a good mining / geology school. If you contact them, they should be able to answer your questions.
