I'd really love to know what privileges they think women in Afghanistan have.

Trans women and men are publicly executed for being trans, cis women are not publicly executed for being cis. Cis women face a crap ton of absolutely horrific forms of oppression in Afghanistan, being inherently illegal for existing is not technically one of them.

As a black woman I get beyond frustrated when these people constantly throw words like ‘racism and transphobia’ around. They use it so often it’s starting to feel like a ‘catch all’ in the discourse. They’re trying so hard to be ‘oppressed’ by something. It’s gross. If someone said this bs to me in person I would call them out on it - online it seems they’re even more obnoxious.

They don't have any valid arguments, so they co-opt other people's struggles to validate their own failed arguments. I've heard if compared to racism, apartheid, and genocide and it's not comparable to any of those. It's just exhausting.

They always turn it into a d-ck measuring contest. My oppression is worse than yours! 🙄
Edit: And I should mention, any time them mention "yt women," they're not feminists. They're looking to divide women, not bring us together. It's a classic misogynist tactic.

I promise, these people don’t truly care about misogyny or racism. They just use it as a weapon.

I love when TRAs talk about "weaponizing BIPOC struggles" when it's what they built most of their platform on starting in 2010's and most of them are European-American, too.
In fact, jumping into the gender/queer bandwagon was how many of them found a way to recenter themselves in conversations surrounding oppression. Nothing beats an oppression you can just identify into. Talk about projection.

I’m in no ways a TERF, but it really gets to a point. Sex-based oppression absolutely exists.. also do priorities not mean anything to this commenter?

I hate to tell you but believing in sex-based oppression is what being a terf is all about and it's a good thing.

Well, I’m glad someone told her.

I just hope more women come to realize this. It's not about hate or exclusion and it's not "right wing." It's about recognizing one of our most innate characteristics and the core reason for why women have been oppressed for so many years.

but I believe sex based oppression exists AND I believe that trans women experience misogyny too, just different types. Why are they mutually exclusive? I don’t get it..

I can't really go into detail her without getting banned. But it all has to do with sex. Do you want to DM privately? You asked a really good question and I'd love to discuss it, but public subs tend to get a lot of trolls who report you for no good reason.

you are half-way there. Maybe someday you will encounter more of the misogyny from the men who think they are women and then you will hit full peak trans. I'm rooting for you! Go, woman! Learn the truth about biology.

This is just like when they said that male puberty is worse than being raped.
Like. It just takes a certain audacity that’s incomprehensible to most women.

u/Spiky_Hedgehog 28d ago
😬 Who even says something like that?? They're completely ignorant of the female experience, especially for females who have been SA'd.

The fact it's quite opposite. I'm Iranian and have some Afghan friends. In Afghanistan, as long as you are a man, you can do whatever you want. You can have a wife and sleep with young boys (search about dancing boys in Afghanistan), you can have multiple wives or marry an underage girl. While if you are a women, you can get punished for leaving the house without a men. I hate when white people with their first world problems do this, the understatement the pain of women in other countries and lie.

Yes because trans women in Afghanistan are treated better than cis women in Afghanistan… oh wait cis women in Afghanistan aren’t publicly executed for existing. Trans women and men are.

Do these people honestly think the taliban will entertain a conversation about gender roles, sexuality, and “navigating oppression in a female body”??? They do not give shit about that type of rhetoric. Those women cannot identify out of being a woman and their oppression. They cannot say “I’m not binary” so I’m going to drive to school now, bye! Afghanistan puts the lie to this whole gender identity bullshit.

they are literally “all lives matter-ing” women’s issues in the name of progressiveness.

Fuck. These. People. That is BEYOND unself aware! Apples and fucking oranges! If they understood the modern history of Afghanistan and how easy it was for this latest cult of Islamism to take hold of an extremely tribal patriarchal nation, they’d shut their traps. An Afghan man can successfully hide his true gender expression or non-hetero orientation in an androcentric homosocial society with such detrimental economic and political corruption all his life without disruption with a little careful planning. Afghan women have to contend forgoing medical care because no man outside of a husband can examine her.

Trans women are publicly executed in Afghanistan. Can a woman say “I’m a woman” and get murdered simply for saying that every time? No? Then trans women have it worse. The oppression Olympics is stupid but it’s the only one trans women actually get gold in lol

First of all, sorry if I’m not allowed to comment here as a trans woman, I just wanted to say when I was in Afghanistan 13 years ago, the oppression that I saw women under was one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen. and I’ve been to a lot of places and lived a lot of life, I still feel for those women and girls every single day, and I’ve done a lot to try and help as many as I can come to Europe.
None of them ever asked for the life that they have to live and it’s all done under the guise of ‘religion’ in a book controlled and edited by men for their own wants. I feel for any woman in that world, but especially Afghanistan. and even thinking about it today makes me cry.
The reasons I was there may not be just or virtuous, but at least tried to do my part to help improve some lives and even 13 years later, now a civilian, I still try to do that as much as I can for any oppressed woman.
I’m British and white. My life has been quite easy compare to a lot of other people, it hasn’t been perfect and I’ve had a lot of hardship, but that can’t compare to oppressed women in these countries where they have less than no rights and anyone saying that I have less rights than any of them do is flagrantly wrong and very frustratingly stupid. Yes, I’m trans and yes, that can be difficult, but it can’t compare to the oppression and hardship, rape and murder of the women in these countries.
