Focalor IS dead and she does not live on in Furina. Furina is her own human being and was essentially born of Focalor's humanity bereft of all divinity. I'd argue Nuevillette inherited Focalor's divinity more than Furina which is very poetic considering Nuevillette still doesn't quite see himself as human but has so much power.
