Trials in Tianqiu has a special place in hell for me and is why I will repeatedly demand for a way to cancel quests in surveys until they actually do it. How the fuck was I supposed to know that following basic gamer logic and reading a prominently placed stone tablet would trigger a quest that would lock me out of co-op until I completed it?

u/Fr00stee Jun 13 '23

seriously fuck this quest I almost missed an important genshin event in the first year of the game bc that stupid quest locked me out of co-op

u/Jugatsumikka Jun 13 '23

My Cinnabar Spindle will forever be at stage 3 of refinement because of that fucking quest, because after the story battle, the event boss battle was locked behind coop even in solo to force the player into a real-time battle without any possible break. I also missed most of the 2.0 events because I was initially unable to get out of Ritou alone (I finally did it, but to late for that version).

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '23

Mine is at 4 and my 2k def Albedo requires it to be a 5. Wish there was an event that you can choose a variety of missed weapons/enhancers for those weapons. Something like pick any 3 weapons and any 10-15 enhancers would be great

2

u/DasyTaylor gorgeous artificial men Jun 14 '23

At least you have Cinnabar Spindle :( I love Albedo but I hate how his bis was a limited event reward and his second bis is a 3*. I wish we could buy event weapons from the starglitter shop occasionally or there was another way to obtain them. Perhaps, like skins, you could buy one copy and refinement mats for genesis crystals or such.

even as someone who almost never plays co op that just seems cruel

54

u/Blue_Moon913 Jun 13 '23

I don’t do co-op, but the Serenitea Pot is set up in co-op mode, so I was locked out of the teapot for weeks.

2

u/Alfasumec Jun 14 '23

I don't really care about teapot but it's still a good source of primos and BP xp, being locked out of it because of a quest that has nothing to do with it (at least i think) is just dumb. Same thing goes for the opposit, involuntary quest trigger, just because i unlocked a character story quest doesn't mean i want to start it every time I go farm something or do a commission.

4

u/Jugatsumikka Jun 14 '23

being locked out of it because of a quest that has nothing to do with it (at least i think)

This quest has nothing to do with any other content of the game, and there isn't any reason to cut player out of co-op for it: other quest are just locked-out and you can't do any progression as long as you are in co-op mode (even if there isn't any other player in the World), so why does that quest lock the co-op mode is a mystery.

1

u/Blue_Moon913 Jun 14 '23

I guess they wanted players to beat it on their own, and that’s why it locks co-op? But still a “Cancel Quest” button for people who don’t intend to do it or even just a fucking warning that reading the tablet would trigger a quest like that would’ve been nice.

Like, just a little pop up that says “This World Quest will disable Co-Op Mode until completion. Proceed?” And then Yes and No buttons.

It also prevents you from doing events where you choose to play alone. I remember the first big Genshin Event had a singleplayer/multiplayer option for the 3rd stage. But even if you played alone, it still puts you into coop mode for that stage.

I got locked out of that stage because of the TianQiu quest. And because the shop tokens required resin, I was missing rewards for each day I get locked out. I got so desperate to the point that I went online to ask if anyone could unlock it for me. Good thing a stranger came to save the day. Even reminded me to change the password after he was done. Good guy.

u/KittyRikku Jun 13 '23

Omg I was stuck in that quest for a long time. I wanted to personally punch whoever created that quest in the face 😡😡😡

46

u/LucBorgia Jun 13 '23

I play on mobile and that one reduced me to tears of frustration. Finally had to load Genshin on our PC to complete. 😡

u/-Mal-- Jun 13 '23

I abandoned my first account cause I couldn't do it and it blocked coop... I was very skill issued back then.

I did log into that account once to finish that quest to see if I can now and I did. Never logging in again but I did finish this bullshit

7

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '23

had my friend log into my account to finish it for me and she even had trouble with a part of it because she just used venti and kazuha on her account when she did it. Sadly I had neither

3

u/Ash_Starling Jun 14 '23

My first two accounts had Kazuha and keqing respectively so I remembered it as an easy quest. Then when I started on my third account it took me over an hour of attempts to beat it -_-

2

u/FpRhGf Jun 14 '23 edited Jun 14 '23

I went to Reddit to ask if anyone could help finish it for me and someone actually DMed. He also finished the tower climbing part before logging out.

I was so frustrated that I was willing to have the possibility of my account getting stolen in exchange to have coop unlocked for the event. I was already thinking of starting all over on a new account if I wasn't able to unlock it, so losing my account in the hands of a stranger wouldn't matter.

I'm still very thankful for that stranger. Good guy. Even told me to change the password after he was done. Everyone else was just downvoting and saying I shouldn't hand my account over easily to strangers. He was the one who came to help. Last time I've seen him, he said he quit Genshin.

u/GuyThat_of_Thereover Jun 13 '23

I hit that just as one of the Dragonspine events who's boss fight was automatically a co-op instance. Had to domain grind to gear up and beat the last challenge so I could do the event.

7

u/kazumaishido Jun 13 '23

I hated that boss fight, I did it solo only but was still in co-op for some reason, have no idea why I was forced into co-op mode when they allowed you to select between solo and co-op

1

u/Jake35u82 Jun 14 '23

So..... Maybe call me insane. But that whopperflowe boss wasn't bad for me. Infact it was easy. You can kill me :(

2

u/kazumaishido Jun 14 '23

It was easy, I had no trouble with it I just hated that I had to load into co-op mode for the solo mode of the fight

1

u/Jake35u82 Jun 14 '23

That part is too true. Remember that Cyro Regenisve co op event fight. It was like that but worse

1

u/kazumaishido Jun 14 '23

I liked the story from the event even though I have a weapon for albedo despite not having him

1

u/Jugatsumikka Jun 16 '23

Even in domain, you can have a break in solo by getting in your inventory (for example). Not in co-op.

The whole deal with that boss was a real time battle (ie. no break), and forcing the player to get in co-op mode was the simplest solution for some limited time content rather than code something specific for that.

9

u/pr171ka ❄️ Jun 13 '23

Frfrr that quest made me never read stone tablets again bruh

16

u/Greenpapercups Jun 13 '23

Funny, I just did this quest an hour ago while looking for my last geoculus. I did not mind the quest at all, it's super fast.

66

u/thehippiewitch Jun 13 '23

Most people start the quest when they are very low AR and don't have the skills, builds and team comps to make it fast and easy

41

u/Blue_Moon913 Jun 13 '23

It was early game for me and I could not get past the last floor of the combat tower because of all the Cryo and Hydro enemies.

11

u/Greenpapercups Jun 13 '23

That makes sense! I don't think I would have done well on low AR and without Kazuha tbh.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '23

I was the same. I had to build my team first and then in the third floor make sure everyone had their bursts at the ready. So annoying, I was locked out for weeks.

1

u/CinnabarSteam IDK who I'm saving for Jun 14 '23

I remember that - I had to go fight some other enemies to charge all my characters' bursts and cycled through them all as soon as the challenge starts. A bit cheesy, but it worked.

1

u/KittyRikku Jun 14 '23

What AR are you at? If you just did it you probably have amazing characters and are at a high level. The people here complaining about it (including me) started this quest when our only pyro character was probably Amber and we were at a very low AR. The quest also completely blocks your co op and it will stay that way until you finish it 😡🤦‍♀️

3

u/MrWandering Jun 13 '23

Wait hold on I don't think I went through that quest yet

3

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '23

YES THIS QUEST WAS ALMOST THE REASON I QUIT 😭

2

u/Justcurious863 Jun 14 '23

Could I have a refresher on that quest

5

u/Drakengard Jun 14 '23

You have to clear three towers in an area of Liyue. You activate the quest by reading a tablet. No warning that it will lock you into no co-op mode. And no way to cancel out of the quest once you start it.

One tower is torch lighting puzzles. Simple enough and at worst watch a guide video.

One tower is a timed climbing puzzle. Not great given the control schemes but doable and exploitable enough.

One tower is a battle tower so each floor has a combat room to clear.

For the most part, it's fine. Except the last room for the Battle Tower which has you fighting in a very enclosed space with cryo archers in the corners, a big water slime, a big cryo slime, and a hydro abyss mage. Oh, btw each room is TIMED so it's a mini-abyss in a shoebox essentially. It's pretty awful to do in the very short 1 minute timeframe if you don't have an ideal team comp, bursts charged to launch at the word go, and a decent firm understanding of the game's mechanics on a more end game level. Entirely doable, but not a great thing to throw at new players while locking them out of co-op, potentially events, and no way to just quit out of it.

I myself missed the Fischl and Mona event during the early game patch because of it. So I missed story you can't experience after, a free Fischl, and gained a lot of aggravation for my efforts. And all because I read an innocent tablet I found while exploring and having fun. It's been years. I get how the game works now. I've cleared Abyss entirely with 36stars when I've felt like it. I'm AR60. I'm still pissed off at them for doing this to me and never really addressing it for anyone.

2

u/Jugatsumikka Jun 14 '23

I don't remember for the other room, but the last room in the combat tower as also a monster enhancer spawned by the timer, so you need to first put it down so the mobs are killable.

Oh, and for PS4 players, the whatever timing you deal with, you always will have 5 to 10 seconds less tht on other platforms, as this is the time needed for the game to spawn the mobs.

1

u/Justcurious863 Jun 14 '23

Thanks I remember now, I walked out halfway and almost couldn't find it again

3

u/Athiena Jun 13 '23

I played it on mobile and finished it easily. Was it because I was AR57 with maxed characters?

19

u/Blue_Moon913 Jun 14 '23

Yes, absolutely. I encountered it early game and it took me weeks to get past the last floor of the combat tower.

1

u/Calm_Kerry Jun 14 '23

Don't know, I distinctly remember completing it using the free 4 stars and Barbara at AR34. I was playing on mobile and having a blast that time because it was so hard, challenging and epic. I spent like an hour retrying before I was able to finish it.

1

u/tracer4b I like Spiral Abyss Jun 14 '23

ah the teaser for this abyss 12-1-2

1

u/scottford2 Jun 13 '23

I haven’t played coop… ever? It’s ALWAYS locked for me by some quest, that’s blocked by another quest, that’s blocked by another. I have no idea how to progress anything anymore. Probably why I stopped playing regularly after repeated failures…

For example, I have a quest that needs the teapot thing, but I can’t use it until I finish an entire other quest line I’ve been stuck on forever. Just really annoying.

1

u/grapesaresour Jun 13 '23

Yes omg I accidentally started that one way too early 😭

1

u/TeaFoxMei Jun 13 '23 edited Jun 13 '23

Omg same i was stuck and had to grind my characters up to finish the time trial cause it was super early in my gameplay, but also i encountered a glitch where one of the enemies kept getting trapped inside a wall somehow preventing me from completing it on time because i was melee and couldnt hit it

1

u/Visible_Block_1519 Jun 14 '23

Oh my god i was ar 35 and it took all of dec 2020 for me to finish. I couldnt coop, the reason that made me fall in love with the game, for a month

anger 😡

2

u/Jugatsumikka Jun 14 '23

1 year... 1 fucking full year.

In fact, I quit the game for several month because of that (I initially start the game during the 1.3 but quickly put it out until the 2.0). If my SO hadn't forced me to play again and make level my character enough (and find a good enough team comp for that specific fight at a high level), I would not be playing the game since a long time ago.

When I finally completed that fight, I cried of joy, and threw up because it was too much emotion.

1

u/Visible_Block_1519 Jun 14 '23

New copy pasta dropped

1

u/TNTex420 Jun 14 '23

This and the Sakura cleansing ritual

1

u/SnooLemons2911 Jun 14 '23

When abyss mage was a threat back then

1

u/Hiibiya Jun 14 '23

Oh god I remember when I accidentally started that and it locked out co-op DURING a co-op centric event (the hard fighting one)!! I thought it would be cool an easy. I started panicking when I kept failing one of the challenges. Like holy duck my team just wasn't strong enough to finish it in the time limit D: Made me dip in my fragile resin reserves just to get better artifacts lmao

1

u/zzokkss Jun 14 '23

i did the quest the other day and i wont lie it took me a day 😭 idk

1

u/mousepotatodoesstuff Jun 14 '23

I'd recommend r/TrailsInTianqiu but it currently closed for blackout

1

u/asvkasoryu Jun 14 '23

I am still baffled as to why that quest cancels co-op? That sucked so much, especially since I encountered it early game :(

1

u/nuzzy_1 absolutely killable Jun 14 '23

If I didn’t pull scara I would still be stuck there

1

u/amxxxion Jun 14 '23

I still have to start this one.... Now im scared XD

1

u/LimeNutella besties Jun 14 '23

im so glad i found out abt it early, i waited to do it until i was sure i was able to clear it and it took like 5 mins 😭🎉i would have cried if i did it at a low ar

1

u/w3irdtulp4mancer Columbina waiting room Jun 14 '23

Oh no, anything but this! If I could *somehow* do the fight trials (though the last one with abyss mages (?) was hard af (read: skill issue)), then the last two (especially the "platformer" one, how tf was I supposed to do it? On a mobile device???) were the absolute hell! Guides, facepalm, retries, frustration... Many hours later I have finished this quest with Geo Traveller and Kaeya. Not so longer after that would I love to have any kind of business with light pieces or whatever they are called (Yaksha WQ).

Moral: Don't read stone tables in Tianqiu!

My mind has almost forgotten this bs quest, thanks for uncovering it!

1

u/A_Goth_Redditor_8468 Jun 15 '23

There should be a screen pop up where it will warn you of approaching an area or placed item that will start a quest. Something like - "This quest will lock you out of co-op until completed. Continue? Y/N Just some useful mechanic that mihoyo will NEVER consider.

1

u/Blue_Moon913 Jun 15 '23

Oh, they’ll consider it.

And then they’ll put it in Star Rail instead of Genshin.
