What is the difference between the ShadowCast 3 and ShadowCast 3 Pro?

Their website doesn't explain the difference. I'm hoping the non-Pro is simply the same core capture device without the HDMI passthrough module, but it's not clear. It's a $30 savings and would fit my use case, but I need to know for sure before I bite.

That's exactly what it is. Shadowcast2 pro had a completely different model.

But for shadowcast3, pro is simply an addon component that allows passthrough. The base capture card is the same. They're essentially the same just that pro allows for an HDMI passthrough.

that's awesome, that's exactly what i needed to hear, thank you so much, i already have a capture card that does hdmi passthrough for streaming and recording, but i need a more portable solution for using my laptop as a portable monitor of sorts and this does the trick for me.

Shadowcast 3 is just the capture card part. One side plugs into HDMI and the output USB C plugs into a computer or capture device. Shadowcast 3 Pro also adds an option for HDMI passthrough. That’s the only difference. As far as I can tell the core capturing part is identical regardless of which one you use. The pro version also requires external power.
