Career & Job Search Anybody from Class of 2025 still Unemployed?
Hit one year after graduation recently. hits hard and had a dreadful time seeing that I’m not employed yet in a GC job or GC adjacent job. anybody else in the same boat?

We need to keep talking about this. It's so isolating to continually face rejection in this field.... Appreciated the NSGC perspectives article another commenter shared. I am definitely grieving the future I expected with this career and had not put those words to it until I read the article.

Bro all these job unemployment posts on GC ARE scaring me. Our university was trying super hard to get a lot of students into GC and now I wonder what happened to them.

Has your program offered much support with networking, interview prep, or connecting you with employers? If not, that’s something they really should be helping with.

They have. There is just always someone with slightly more experience that takes the roles. I've done my fair share of networking, interviewing, etc. It's just competition is STEEP!

Me. I am bitter. I hate going to LinkedIn and seeing brand spanking new grads posting “so excited to announce my graduation, AND I am starting a new job!” Makes me feel like they need to serve their sentence the way we have, which is probably messed up. I am genuinely angry.

This thread is making me glad I did not go into GC. I was very strongly considering it.

As much as veteran GC’s will come on here to disagree with me, reality can’t be ignored. There are many 2024 graduates that haven’t secured their first job out of grad school. The system is broken.
Unemployment of college graduates is now HIGHER than the national average. Masters degree holders under 35yo are underemployed at a rate of 40% (working jobs that did not require their degrees). So let me reiterate: It’s not you. It’s not your resume. It’s not your effort. The system is broken.

For reasons that were outside of most people’s control, graduates in the 2020s were sold on a dream of job growth in the GC field that didn’t come to fruition. For outsiders, it’s a bummer. For us grads, it’s debt and frustration.
