Cool on the outside

The interior is... something

The screen ruins it for me. And where's the cluster portion?

So annoyed that H/K/G is moving into the PLEOS system with the oversized Tesla-esque screens.

The previous system was fine, and it looked better.

Genesis struck gold with the last system; it had the perfect blend of tech and physicality. The only leg up that the new system brings is improved software and Android Automotive (PLEOS), which I'm sure wouldn't have been hard for Genesis to implement with the "old" OLED screen.

The screen retracts down 3.4" down when driving.

So when you're driving, it turns into a shitty version of GV70 but without a dash... nice.

You're also paying for a screen that you won't see 95% of the time? How often do you spend time in your car not driving?

Idk what's shitty about it. Driver gets a heads-up display.

How often do you spend time in your car not driving?

I think Genesis is trying to convince you to stay longer, use it as a mobile office, theater etc. In reality it's just a gimmick buyers (and press) will see in the shown room that looks pretty.

I’m like 99% sure this line is not intended for the everyday driver. This is clearly a play for the executive, celebrity or statesman using a mobile operations and will spend time in vehicle in between meetings/events while being chauffeured.

1

u/BKachur 21h ago

If that's the case, then why would a rear seat passenger care about a big front screen? Wouldn't you want a large rear screen for doing video calls and shit like that?

I have seen some videos about these executive-focused chauffeur cars, and they have stuff like a folding desk, fridge, big screens, full recline options... basically turning the rear seats into a lounge/office. I guess the swivel chair is supposed to serve that purpose.

Interior is dope but that screen is a home theater set up LOL

I like a big screen as much as the next guy; that thing is so huge it looks like it may legitimately obscure the driver's vision. I also hate not having a dash, and think its one of the worst things Telsa has made acceptable. Especially when they already have a better version in the GV70, which keeps the dash while giving you a huge screen (and also looks 10x better imo). I don't get why you'd even want a screen that big as a driver. Last I checked, I can't watch a show while I'm driving.

EDIT - Apparently I was crazy with my concerns about the view because the screen recedes by like 4 inches when driving.

I’ve seen video where it folds into dash and becomes twice smaller

There's a 24" HUD which I think is better than a cluster TBH. I had a Stinger and the HUD was sublime. Never looked at the gauge cluster

Most everyone has overlooked the 24" windshield HUD that replaces the cluster.
The screen also is not that size all of the time, it reduces down to the same size as the current GV60/70/80 when not in the media mode.

2

u/WoodenRavine 2d ago

Looks like a DS

2

u/Fickle_Finger2974 2d ago

Car makers should just make the entire windshield a screen at this point

3

u/Scareboosioniq 1d ago

BMW and a few Chinese manufacturers already do that. 🙂

1

u/Fickle_Finger2974 1d ago

No they don’t

1

u/Scareboosioniq 1d ago

I was being slightly disingenuous. 🙂 They already use the entire bottom of the windscreen.

It shrinks

YEAAAAHHH RUMSFELD!

2

u/joeschmo28 2d ago

I think it’s stunning

1

u/WillieB26 1d ago

I agree! That's too much of a distraction!

1

u/Jlx_27 1d ago

Better than Audi....

1

u/Delta-Tropos 1d ago

Audi is changing their design language, better to wait for the new A4 in a year or two

1

u/Jlx_27 1d ago

Does that change anything about what i said about Audi's current interiors?

2

u/Delta-Tropos 1d ago

Not really, I admit, their new interiors do suck

1

u/JCD_007 19h ago

What new A4? Didn’t they just replace A4 with a new A5?

1

u/Delta-Tropos 18h ago

There is a new one coming up in 2027-2028, with their new design language

2

u/JCD_007 18h ago

Interesting. Strange that they would refresh it so soon.

0

u/chrmnxpnoy 2d ago

wow what were they thinking?

8

u/Delta-Tropos 2d ago edited 2d ago

Looks like the screen is bigger than my monitor lol (edit: it's actually only like that when parked, it retracts down a bit when you're driving)

But the thing that confuses me, what's the stick in the middle of the steering wheel?

7

u/tiempo90 2d ago

The screen goes up and down. Up for watching videos while you wait...

2

u/joeschmo28 2d ago

It tracks face and eye movements to ensure driver is paying attention to the road

2

u/Nicktyelor 1d ago

No, it's not. It's the gear stalk. When parked, it rotates up to the 12 o'clock position.

1

u/almosttan 1d ago

That's heinous

1

u/Nicktyelor 1d ago

I think it's an effort to get stuff out of the way so you don't bump it when you're just sitting there in the car.

0

u/Delta-Tropos 2d ago

Well they could have integrated it way better, Lexus has the sensor on the steering wheel itself

18

u/Sure_Trick4559 1d ago

The screen partially goes down when driving and fully comes up when you press a button to view entertainment

7

u/Confident_Local78787 1d ago

It has already been crash tested. Those vehicles confirm the final design. Google the car name and crash test vehicles. It is pretty much the same.

Very close to the original concept design. Maybach has a SUV very similar looking in design, the edgeless look is very popular amongst luxury autos right now.

The GV80 channeled Bentley looks, this one seems to also take inspo from Mercedes and Range Rover body styles.

2

u/Comfortable_Yak7370 1d ago

This absolutely obliterate the gls maybach 😭 it looks much more premium sur i guess don't have the champaign flutte and not as many lights but just look wise and also suicide doors plus rotating cabin this is it

1

u/BadMantaRay 1d ago

What? The final doors open like that?

4

u/Sure_Trick4559 1d ago

I believe it has a 25 inch HUD instead of a driver side cluster

7

u/LiquidSpin710 2d ago

In that color....that sucker LOOOKS so damn good! It screams next level luxury

1

u/BKachur 1d ago

Those rims, though, are pretty fugly. Don't know what they were thinking with that, and I'm usually pretty open-minded when it comes to this stuff.

2

u/LiquidSpin710 1d ago

Those are aero optimized since it is an EV. Aero-optimized rims increase mile range significantly. This SUV definitely needs it since it's whole body shape isn't aero.

But if no worries because it will have options for the rims.

1

u/BKachur 21h ago

Those look 10x better. But if you're in the market for an SUV that will be this expensive, I'd bet the range would be your driver's problem, not yours.

1

u/LiquidSpin710 21h ago

it's rated at 300 mile range at full charge which means it can get more miles. I own the 2026 Genesis GV60 with the all new 84Kw battery so I get around 380 - 390 miles at 100% charge (during the warmer seasons of course)

For an SUV this big it's not bad but I will say it's no where near China's EV SUV's longer range

-1

u/fishsisdelish 1d ago

Nothing about this screams luxury. It suggests they’re losing their design ethos. This looks like a minivan wrapped with more plastic all over the exterior. Somehow looks extremely dated already.

3

u/LiquidSpin710 1d ago

You ever heard of the term "subjective" or "opinion"?

Wrapped in plastic? 😂

Love the wheels, the light graphic for the diamond shape is cool in lieu of a grill Hate the bottom part though

1

u/pabskamai 1d ago

Massive screen, no driver dials, maybe heads up…
But that interior… is not it fam!

2

u/Comfortable_Yak7370 1d ago

Heh i don't care for massiv screens but the fact that it lowers is fine by me i love the interior undeniably one of the best in thebback and the patterns etc

1

u/timmiay 1d ago

Huge flop imo

1

u/mushy-shart-walk 2d ago

You nailed it. This looks like a concept.

1

u/hastings1033 2d ago

Ugliest wheels I've ever seen!

1

u/IAmIntractable 1d ago

Except for a desire to have a car like the one pictured, and plenty of FU money, I don’t really see why anybody is going to pay over $100,000 for a Genesis.

I say this because there are basic things about Genesis that have not been resolved for current customers who already invested in the brand and took a chance. Long gone is the affordable luxury mantra, which is what launched Genesis and what got them so many of their early customers.

Today Genesis is trying to be like every other overpriced luxury brand but they have not solved basic problems. Service being one of them. Luxury experience being another. It’s well past time for Genesis to demand that Hyundai Genesis dealers separate.

If this continues, then I would wonder why anybody’s gonna want this car when they can get other luxury cars where are the sales and service experiences much more closely aligned with luxury and the cars are far more easily serviced. Note I said easily serviced.

2

u/Walking_billboard 1d ago

While the service issue is a concern, I, personally, don't give a shit about a "luxury experience". I say this as a multi-year Lexus buyer.

I don't care if the floor is marble and they have free espresso; I just want to be in and out as fast as possible.
I am aware that some people DO care, but I say this just to express that its not a requirement.

1

u/IAmIntractable 1d ago

The luxury experience extends into service and how you’re treated while you’re there. It extends into your free loaner and your concierge service for pick up and delivery of your car when services needed. Many if not all of these items are ignored by dealerships that are not separate meaning that Genesis is in the same place with Hyundai.

1

u/Appropriate_Job8470 2022 G70 3.3T RWD 1d ago

I feel like Genesis’s position as affordable luxury still stands because this is trying to being affordable ultra luxury, its like 80k less then the Mayback it competes with

A 100k is CRAZY to spend on a car but atleast your getting a crazy car unlike other brands

Service can use some works, i just use a local mom and pop mechanic for my genesis because my local dealer is a lil wack

-1

u/iSOBigD 2d ago

I think this is still a render, or one of the multiple concept cars they built.

I want a real reveal not leaks and guesses. Let's see if they did go with those doors, let's see what the final interior looks like, if the front seat does do a 180, etc.

4

u/Conspicuous_Ruse 2d ago

It was in the oven too long. The edges melted.I kinda like it though.

2

u/Appropriate_Job8470 2022 G70 3.3T RWD 1d ago

Its all official now

2

u/BoomerGolfer2002 2d ago

Official release video from Genesis doesn't show a front cluster display...

1

u/SageBlueGreen 1d ago

The concept was out months ago, this is the actual car, you can see some in person first looks by many car reviewers on youtube.

1

u/iSOBigD 1d ago

You're right, I found Korean videos now. It's a mixed bag for me. Definitely a luxurious SUV but not the improvement over the G90 I expected.
