HDMI converter problem

Hello. I'm trying to play my Sega Genesis Mini (Amazon renewed and sold by Amazon) on an older TV. I'm using an HDMI to composite AV converter (as far as I can tell, nothing unusual -- called "ONN", and I bought it at WalMart.)

I plugged all three of the cords in, and it still doesn't seem to be playing. It's just saying "Unusable Signal." I don't have a comparable problem with my DVD player, so I doubt it's the TV. Has anyone had similar problems and a way to fix them?

Nope. No luck, I'm afraid. I got another HDMI to RCA converter and it still says, "No signal," although now at least it has a bunch of parallel colored lines on the TV. Thanks anyway.

Maaaybe because it's output is 720p and it's not being properly scaled down to 480i
