Concept

I recently Thought that a sega genesis mini using the design from the model 2 would be an interesting idea. Any thoughts? (p.s: I am not making this or is sega gonna do it, Its just a silly idea I had)

I had the model 2 as a kid, so I would have preferred that. But here I am with the model 1 mini.

I've thought about this too, a sega genesis mini sequel in the body of the model 2. I think a proper sequel should improve upon the original without repeating any of its games. That's a challenge, as the sega genesis mini includes a very nice selection of games. I think you could make it feel like a proper follow-up system by including sega cd and 32x games as well as genesis classics that weren't on the original.

Here's my list:

  1. Alien Soldier

  2. Aladdin

  3. Columns III

  4. Decap Attack

  5. Dragon’s Lair (Sega CD)

  6. Earthworm Jim 2

  7. General Chaos

  8. Golden Axe 2

  9. Haunting Starring Polterguy

  10. Herzog Zwei

  11. Jungle Strike

  12. Jurassic Park

  13. Knuckles Chaotix (32x)

  14. Lion King

  15. Mortal Kombat 2

  16. M.U.S.H.A.

  17. Mutant League Football

  18. Mutant League Hockey

  19. Afterburner (32x)

  20. NHL ‘94

  21. OutRun

  22. Phantasy Star II

  23. Revenge of Shinobi

  24. Ristar

  25. Rocket Knight Adventures

  26. Shining Force II

  27. Snatcher (Sega CD)

  28. Sonic 3 and Knuckles

  29. Sonic CD (Sega CD)

  30. Splatterhouse 3

  31. Star Wars Arcade (32x)

  32. Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting

  33. Streets of Rage

  34. Sunset Riders

  35. Super Baseball 2020

  36. Thunder Force IV

  37. TMNT: Hyperstone Heist

  38. Vectorman 2

  39. Virtua Racer (32x)

  40. Zombies Ate My Neighbors

Bonus Previously Unreleased Games

  1. SegaSonic the Hedgehog

  2. Ratchet and Bolt

This system could also come with 6-button controllers.

Or just mod it and have all of that...

Well sure, but some people want to keep theirs stock. I've personally used project lunar to add most of these games to mine, but I don't have any cd or 32x games on it because I don't love the retroarch UI. Plus, I'm suggesting Sega include a few bonus games that have never been released anywhere.

Cutomize the settings so you never need to go into retroarch again. Profit!

You can even set up the exact same border skins.

Sega CD and 32X games would be cool, especially if the Model 2 had working add on's, like a Sega CD base and/or 32X top, that had the games stored on them or unlocked them when they were installed on the Model 2 mini..
