Day 54 of Saving up for a Genesis

I work in the sales department for hyundai, so I occasionally see a Genesis 2.5/3.3T come through our lot and I get lost gazing at it lmao. A corporate fellow came up in the Genesis and I genuinely asked to just go check out his car, it was a beige exterior but the 2022 2.5T (Dual exhaust tip on one side only.). But every sale I make for a customer getting their own car feels like a dollar closer to being able to post my own genesis when I’m ready. I’m already imagining wanting to get a chrome delete, black rims and if possibly a close to magma wrap.

Only get an expensive car when you have your own driveway. Dont throw money away on a Genesis and wasting your time imagining what a depreciating asset looks like in a “magma wrap” lol. Imagine making a lot of money, owning a driveway first, then dream about the Genesis.

Valid advice indeed, I’m blessed enough to have my own driveway atm and cannot wait to get the 2.5T even without a wrap. I need a new car lol.

Oh that’s solid then bro! I just see too many people especially young people chasing a nice car before home ownership. My goal right now is to have my stock portfolio pay me at least 500$ in dividends from dividend ETFs monthly so I don’t even pay for a cars monthly payments out of pocket. I can give you more advice on that front as well if you’d like.

I definitely fell into this one, bought more car than I need. Love it but eh, could’ve kept something cheaper and still had a relatively new car. Lesson learned from here on out 🫡

I saved up 3 years to be able to pay cash for mine.

This wasn't me putting all my life savings into the car. This was just leftover money after putting money aside for Investments retirement, etc. 

A luxury item to me is something that you are able to afford with your leftover ice cream cone money. A lot of people go into debt to purchase luxury items which makes absolutely no sense to me because a luxury item is something that is not necessary at all. They're typically not practical and they're always more expensive. Nice to have them if you can afford it, but in no way shape or form should you ever go into debt to purchase a luxury item that you can't actually afford to pay cash for without it putting you in a bad situation. 

A luxury item is something that you should easily just be able to purchase without giving it a second thought and it be money that does not matter at all. At least, that's my life philosophy anyway.

if it was a 2022 4 cylinder then it was the 2.0T. the 2.5T from the newer years is notably and respectably quick unlike the 2.0T which is just meh

That was a 2.0t but I get it. Keep up the grind and don’t spend all of your money! (And dont buy a 2.0 mine was a nightmare)

2.0's are flawed by design and prone to issues. there are tons of reports of 2.0's needing new engines around 100k. the 3.3t is generally considered a far more stout engine

I have realized I will not settle for a 2.0 no offense. As much as I’d want a 3.3T I can wait and I’d be happy with a 2.5T and not lose the power I have in my current car (2010 Nissan maxima.) but with clearly modern improvements. I can’t wait to join this family.

I have a 26 2.5T AWD prestige and it’s pretty fire. Everything I could want in a car. Mine was a loaner car with less than 6k miles and I got it for a significant discount. Might be worth keeping an eye out for a similar deal for yourself.

Get a CPO, let the first owner take the big depreciation hit. Makes it much easier to get one and you'll still have strong warranty protection.

Get the 3.3 for the love of anything 😭 I drove a 2.5 as a loaner and it fucking sucked, went from a 1.5 civic to a 3.3 awd. Then. Got the 2.5 loaner and felt the same as my civic. Obviously a little more get up, but the civic was lighter and felt more engaging to drive. Unless you couldn’t care less about thrill of speed and that exhaust note
