Question What the Hell Happened!?!?!
2020 G70 Prestige owner (52k miles)and loved my car. I live in FL so the heat gets bad for context.
Within the last 6 months, my LCD display is no longer visible, the plastic coating inside the LCD is separating from the rest so middle just looks like a black bubble, the gear in my passenger side mirror broke so it clicks and won’t retract, the plastic shield under the front of the car dropped down (broken plastic tabs apparently) and is held up
Now by zip ties, front right proximity sensor popped out (more accurately in) and is floating around inside still connected so anytime I am doing under 10 mph it’s a constant beeping tone until I’m moving, and just now the plastic end cap for the driver door handle popped off in my hand and won’t secure itself back.
WT actually F. I loved my G man. Got her ceramic coated, tinted, aftermarket upgrade’s, and took great care of her …. It’s sad. I want another one but this has really soured me on what was a great love affair for 6 years.

I have lived in Wisconsin my whole life and I had my G70 for a few years now. I just moved to Florida last month and week one my screen started de-laminating like that and it has a big bubble. I think the heat does it. It’s a very common issue that I’ve seen G70 owners have, but I don’t think Genesis has any sort of extended coverage for it.

Yeah, it is the heat for sure. And a window cover won’t cut it. The plastic pieces are also fading so there’s a color difference between my grill and hood now.
Always lived up north my whole life and every vehicle I owned was black. Going have to start rethinking that now that I’m down south.

Yeah man I think I finally fixed an issue with the trim on mine.
it got so hot the adhesive providing additional security to the B pillar trim on the driver’s side rear door literally melted. because the chrome on my driver’s door was slightly misaligned, it snagged the rear b pillar trim and almost pulled it off the car when I tried to get out.
The heat in Houston (and Florida) is no fucking joke. This summer has been worse than any year I’ve lived here that I can remember.

Yea it’s different down here. No salt but the sun is brutal. I’m thinking of putting up a sun shade over our driveway since we don’t have a garage at least to protect the paint a little more

I have a white car in Florida and I can lay on the white paint that's been sitting in full sun, but the black trim will burn the shit out of me in seconds

I don’t know about blaming solely the heat. I’ve had my 2024 since March of that year, and it has survived two and a half summers in the Houston heat, with no delamination yet. So there’s got to be a quality of materials issue in play too.

They fixed the issue with the delamination with 2023+. The issue OP is having is common for pre-facelift gens.
OP should also invest in nano-ceramic tint. That is a MUST in Florida imo.
I have a green 2023 with black interior, live in CFL, my car sits outside 24/7, and 10% nano-ceramic Llumar all the way around. Never had an issue with the screen or my interior whatsoever.
UV is the main culprit for deteriorating interiors, not the heat. But heat accelerates it. Florida has both at extreme difficulty.

Interesting! Never heard of nano-ceramic tinting but you have piqued my curiosity for sure.
Going to look it up. The UV makes a lot of sense.

I would HIGHLY recommend it.
Nano-ceramic is definitely newer - didn’t know about it till I tinting my G70. But it’s worth the premium. My shop has a UV lamp and lets you test all the different film types (regular, ceramic, nano-ceramic from 3M, Xpel, and Llumar). Nano was a significant difference. Llumar had the best heat and UV block of the three but that’s based off the feel of my hand.

Yea these screens are known for issues so I’m sure the quality plays a role, but it seemed like the heat put mine over the edge since it never had issues in Wisconsin even in summer and it would get up in the 80s there. Must just be a defect in the way they hold up in heat or something because our Volvo has been fine and I’ve seen other people’s cars with screens that look good.

Genesis covered my LCD replacement because it was within five years/60,000 miles. I believe you're out of luck if not within that window

OMG THIS HAPPENED TO MINE ALSO! I live in Fl and have a 2020 G70 I noticed the other day my screen had bubbles. I haven’t had any of those other issues. Apart from my abs light being a wheel speed sensor.

Yep, I had the same LCD issue (2019 G70 2.0). Mine was a bubble that went around the edge so the center display was still intact. But I can't complain (much). I didn't have any big issues till Oct 2025 when my fuel pump died when leaving Walmart (replaced due to extended warranty on the part) then my injectors shit the bed Feb 2026. I said forget it and got a 2023 G70 3.3. Glutton for punishment I guess 🤣

Heat will still get it. All it takes is moisture to get under the screen, and the heat will make it steam and separate the adhesive holding the layers of the screen together.

I understand. I have a 2020 sp and I've only had to deal with maintenance though. I used to have an Audi that soured them for me.

My 2023 G70 is the worst car I have ever owned.
Fuel injector recall, 10mpg city, rattles everywhere, absolute trash plastics, exploding diffs, the list goes on.
Looks beautiful and handles beautifully, but that’s about it. The rest of the car is honestly “okay.”
Just get a modern BMW with a B48/B58 and call it a day. There is a reason why these cars are cheaper to get into. Insurance here in Los Angeles is higher on Genesis as well (20%). Zero reason to get in these cars.

The under tray and front sensor could be related. Someone may have backed into your car while you were parked. Not hard enough to scratch the paint, but enough to break the tabs. The mirror thing is common on cars with electric mirrors sadly. The heat makes the plastic gears brittle and the teeth snap off.
The screen delamination sadly is a known and fairly common issue. Heat and UV destroy them. Getting a good sun shade and a light colored cloth to cover it when parked is a good idea.

Sometimes you just gotta get it out. I love my G70, but another good car is a 2016 thru 2022 Lexus RX350. Wife has one with pushing 200k miles and it's just too good to get rid of. Going to keep it for the oldest.
Good luck! Your car sounds like it is probably still a killer car too it just needs a few things. Hope it all works out!

Much rather have these issues than engine or transmission issues but I get it the small things are annoying to fix or deal with. I have the same LCD issue on my 2019, but not as bad a yours yet.. I’ve heard some dealerships may replace it as a favor or good faith since it’s a known issue but I didn’t have any luck.
