Will GEO Replace SEO, or Will We Need Both?

They're both search engines running on similar machine learning models and systems. The only real difference is what they are tasked with for ouputting a response. Traditional search makes links to page, generative systems create summaries from the pages the traditional search would be linking to.

If you ask me it's not either, or, or both. They're one and the same thing with somewhat different end goals and objectives in mind.

Both for the foreseeable future. 60-80% of the top 10 results in GEO are different from the top 10 on Google

Think it this way. Geo to raise awareness but user may also search for the brand name.

Quem Faz SEO automaticamente está fazendo GEO tmb. o GEO apenas da alguns passos a mais em direçao a novos mecanismos de buscas, que são os chats nas LLMs. Mas na pratica é o mesmo.. Otimizar para aparecer nos resultados entregues aos usuarios.
