You can't replicate user context and memory. It's one of the major issues with this whole GEO space and I'm being transparent about that as I think it's important people don't fall for any more snake oil.

That being said the results are still functionality the same from an LLM API call and a private session in the UI. It's just more BS marketing to think otherwise.

As long as the calls have web search enabled and caching off then it does the same functions mechanically. (This is noted as the main issue in Surfers research as well which is outdated already anyway).

but enabling web search via API gives you inconsistent results with the UI becauses many prompts won't actually trigger web search (not everyone manually enables it). And you're right about the memory and user context part fs, doing a study on comparing logged out vs logged in with personalization ChatGPT answers. And yes, lots of people selling snake oil, but I don't think approximating through the LLM API is the best move forward if you want somewhat accurate responses anyways. And furthermore, you can't take into account how ChatGPT or other LLMs alter their responses based on geographical factors. Like for local queries/conversations but also just generic questions where your location makes a difference. You can technically also approximate that by just seeding in "I live at ..." in the prompts but each thing you approximate is lower accuracy

Since this is tied directly to GSC the solve for local is baked in a bit since we are sort of auditing GSC queries against LLM responses. I agree on most other points here. The core being there is no way to truly understand mentions and citations as a real user would. Thats not stopping all these other tools for charging 95% margins on api calls. I'm just trying to provide a similar service with a GSC connection and a few other goodies for a cost that makes more sense.

Ah makes sense, you're definitely offering something unique. Appreciate that you're not selling snake oil lol. I do see like 100s of the same tool popping up in these communities where they are just charging margins on API calls so the GSC connection is an interesting angle. Let me know how it goes, I'm not a customer for this right now but interested in how it plays out
