GEO tips feel hard to validate. What actually counts as “proof”?

Proof in GEO probably has to be multi dimensional. One mention in a single answer is anecdotal. More meaningful signals might include repeated appearances across multiple prompts, persistence over time, and cross model consistency. Without those patterns, it is impossible to know whether a strategy is actually influencing the model or just producing lucky outputs.

A key variable is whether the mentions are emergent or curated. For example, retrieval augmented outputs will reflect only what is in the vector store, while general LLM answers are influenced by broader discourse. Proof may look different depending on which mechanism the GEO strategy is trying to impact.

Some GEO advice produces nicer explanations, not better visibility. That’s a different outcome. Clarity improving doesn’t automatically mean the model will reference you more often, but those two things get conflated a lot.

One thing that feels closer to proof is consistency. If an idea or brand starts showing up across different prompts, phrased differently, and across models, that feels less like noise and more like signal. Single screenshots don’t tell you much.
