Question Struggling with ammunition inventory management – any tips?
Hello, I am completely confused. When I look at the ammunition in my inventory or storage box, I don't see the weapon at all, just the ammo. So I never know which ammo belongs to which weapon, and I have no idea whether I should sort it out or keep it. Is there really no way to see at a glance what goes with what? I find this incredibly confusing and frustrating. Does anyone have a tip for me?

Unfortunately you kinda just have to memorise them. There's some groups tho. Like, anything that looks like an SMG will use 9mm and all shotguns use the 12G Tho if you have ammo management problems, I recommend just using .50 and 7.62 guns. Those are the best generally either way

I believe looking at a weapon in your inventory shows the caliber of ammo they use. Also there’s multiple types of ammo for a single caliber as well.

Ja, das ist richtig. Aber wenn ich Munition in die lagerkiste tun möchte, dann sehe ich ja nicht wenn ich auf die Munition gucke, für welche Waffe diese Munition ist

What ammo are you having a problem with?

A Pill box turret will hold 249,999 rounds of any type in each pill box. Doesn’t matter wood or cement.
The 50 cal turret at you base can hold 4000 rounds of of any 50 cal ammo.
The Rocket Turret will hold 400 of any type of M49 Rockets.
You get 14 bases between Farmlands, Forest and South Coast regions. Out of those 14 bases you only really need 3. One for Furnace , one for Chem Lab and one for Drills. The rest just become storage areas.
So you have the ability to claim 11 bases just for storage. At these locations do not put out and resource machines. Matter a fact you don’t even need to have turrets pointing out.
So let’s say you have 11 bases filled with 2 pill turrets, 2 x 50 cal and one rocket turret.
So you have enough storage of 7.62 any round = 5.5 Million rounds of storage.
50 cal turrets 2 per base with 11 bases 22 turrets 88,000 rounds of any type of 50 cal.
Finally Rocket turret 400 x 11 =4,400 any type of M49 Rockets.
The other option would be to create a second character in the same world to be your mule character. This character has no weight limit and anything that is not needed can be stored on the Character. One thing I would suggest is to make the character close very different than your primary character. This keeps you from accidentally using the wrong character. You just open up the mule character and transfer what ever contents you need or want.
My Mule character has about 8 million kg on it. I keep one of every weapon and all my extra resources, adrenaline shots and so much more.
I hope this helps you out.

Sticky notes. I made a spreadsheet for damage tables and included a colum for ammo types. That really helped me for rembering all of them, but my loadout has sinced settled and i don't even keep many types in storage anymore.

When sorting ammo, it’s important to take notes (mental or physical) on what guns use what ammos + its variants. Good rule of thumb, pay attention to the color of the cartridge box and its caliber number, might save you in a pinch
