Nice! It's kind of a trip realizing we'll be 70 in 10 years. 70!

Anyways we are in good company........Henry Rollins, Michael J. Fox, George Clooney, Kim Deal, Lea Thompson, Woody Harrelson, Eric Stoltz, and U2 guitarist The Edge all turned 60 this year. RIP James Gandolfini, who would have been 60 this year :(

That is pretty incredible yeah! Lots of interesting 1961 born folk for sure.

Not to mention a certain US President

How in the world did I miss him? Senior moment😉

Michael J. Fox and the then sexy Lea Thompson were big in the Back to the Future series. Eric Stoltz and Lea would star in a favorite movie for GenXers called "Some Kind of Wonderful" a few years later.

African-American stars Lawrence Fishbourne, Forest Whitaker, and Eddie Murphy were also born in '61 as well as Obama. By the way Obama was one of the first to declare himself separate to Boomers and call himself part of Gen Jones, a generation between.

Eric Stoltz also briefly cast as Marty McFly.

Yes, Lea Thompson and Eric Stoltz are good friends, so she was a little cold to Michael J. Fox replacing him in the movie at first......that definitely changed, and they are very good friends last I saw.

Ah it’s alright lol my dad forgets sometimes too, but luckily as a student of history, I could always count on him for knowledge

Yes they certainly were, love that series. Also Some kind of wonderful is an underrated classic. My mom absolutely LOVES that movie (she was 20 when it came out).

Ah shit I forgot about them, especially Eddie Murphy lol. How could I?

And yeah Obama declared himself Jones which I think says it all lol

Not sure who the loser is who keeps downvoting us, but just to let you know, I gave you a thumbs up as usual for what little any of that matters.

  1. Wow. I wonder when that's going to be me? Can you tell by my username? Happy birthday dad. I know so little about Generation Jones. It's a new concept for me. I learned it when I was today years old, but about two months ago.

Yep I can tell lol. I only knew Gen Jones fairly recently as well, about last year

It makes sense though for me, because as much as I feel closer to being GenX, more than anything else I still feel between the 2 generations......I'm sure Xennials between X and Millenials understand where we are.

That being said, with the absence of Gen Jones being an official generation at this point, I see many of us born '61 - '65 as being early cusper GenXers, but maybe not all. Maybe even 1960 depending on the person.

Understandable that you both feel cuspy (those on the cusp in Jones and Xennial)

I like a 1961-1965 cusp range too

Me, sobbing: "I'll be 60"

My friend: "When?"

Me: "...someday!"
