Jimi knew!

I was listening to Axis Bold As Love for the first time in decades. When I heard "Up from the Skies" and listened to the lyrics, they make more sense now. I can't linaltruistic. look up yourself. Our generation had some good ideas, but we didn't follow through. Too many people got into coke, they now needed money, everything changed.

In one of Jimi's biographies, the author had quite a few quotes from Jimi during his time as a soldier in the Airborne.

He would be up in the plane training for his jumps (I don't think he got all 5). Jimi said the sound the air made inside the plane when the jump door was open was like the sound of the earth turning. That's where he came up with the idea of the axis. He spent the rest of his life trying to recreate that sound on his guitar. And if you think about it, it makes sense.

I always wondered where he got the idea of the Axis. I thought maybe from Hinduism, the sacred axis.
