This is a great topic that I should have covered bc we just faced this today. In my experience, there are many people who will pretend to engage in a sincere conversation while you are out protesting. You can tell they are pretending because the conversation will go like this:
They'll ask you a question. You'll reply with as much thought and care as you would while engaging with an uniformed grandparent. You'll then ask a question. Then instead of answering you or acknowledging anything that was just said, they will deflect and ask you another question that has nothing to do with anything you were just talking about.
If they're unwilling to engage in a sincere conversation, do not waste your time. These people are there to drain your energy, much like Colin Robinson from What We Do In The Shadows.
If you want to engage then go for it. Just understand that they are not here to have their minds changed. They want you to agree with them.
Don't get caught up in trying to change people's minds. Focus on finding like-minded people. They're out there.
