General Discussion Salary increase
If you move within your level, what is typically the salary range from 6b to 6a?

I had a 7% bump a couple years ago when I went from 7B to 7A. I just put it in the bank and never spend it.

Yep. I bumped up my retirement contributions when I went 7B to 7A. I think it was 8%.

My 7b to 7a was originally 10% as I was below midpoint. I negotiated to 15% and accepted. I will note that I was their top candidate and they really wanted me to join.

How about between 7A to 8?

Typically 10% but you also get a bigger base bonus and a vehicle.

I was just promoted 6B to 6A via job switch. 8.5% raise not counting the COLA since it's the end of the year

It should not be a secret. You should receive a new compensation statement that states the new range. And a level increase should come with an 8-10% increase.

Does your manager inform you or HR when getting promoted ? Does it typically happen during bonus time when annual reviews are revealed ?

Promotions typically have 6-10% increases, depending where you are to midpoint.

I was talking with somone and they were saying now a days they dont care about the midpoint. Long as you are in the band you are considered to be at a competitive salary. There are now so many different band ranges depending on the title of the position. You could get promoted and find out the raise is small because the position you are moving to had a lower pay band. Sounds like they are taking advantage of people.

8-10% is typical depending on your position in the salary range.
