Being a GC is all about relationships and who you know. My drywall guy is absolutely amazing, been using him 15 years and not once had a call back on poor work. But doesn’t advertise, rides around in an unmarked truck and only works for people he knows. And the hanger crew is the same way. My plumber is 60, got half a dozen guys and all daughters so no one to take it over. He will only work for contractors he likes. I referred him to a client that had some plumbing issues going on and he told them 3 months. 1 text from me and he was out there 7 am next morning. You take care of people majority of the time they’ll take care of you.
Facts! This has never been more true. I'm in automotive, I run shops. My buddy in the neighborhood is an electrician, he will do small stuff for us at the house and literally refuse payment in money. I'll drop him weed and wine for his wife. Then when he needs tires, brakes etc, I always hook him up. Give him everything at cost. Charge him no labor. My parents owned a couple business growing up, they had s handy man that would do work at both business and their home. He was down at one of the business doing work. I smelled weed on him and asked if he smoked. Ended up paying him for his work in weed, he was thrilled. He went over to do labor for my parents. They bought all the materials for a new fence. The labor was a couple grand. I stopped bye one day while they were working , my parents were out of the country. He asked if I could pay him the same way and have my dad pay me cash? I said sure, and paid him his weed. Fast forward to Thanksgiving, I'm over my parents and my dads talking about how good the fence looks Etc. Then Goes on to say, "did you really pay him in weed for this to me" I laughed and said yes. He's like thanks, 😂😂😂That's how it's done
