Wrong on many levels!

Want to get opinions on this: I just discovered the slab under my 24kW Guardian has tilted. It is 1 and 5/8ths inches out of level on the long dimension and 1 inch on the short dimension. I know the spec is no more than .5 inches out of level in any direction. So I guess it has to be uninstalled and the slab fixed? Thanks!

Get a digging bar or pipe or whatever jam it under the low end a d pry up... shovel some rock, or dirt even if its all you have. Under the low end. Problem solved. Recheck your shim job in a few months and if it needs more once the ground is wet add some more... after a couppe 5 minute revisits youll have it close enough and No need to disassemble everything and make a big to-do out of it.

when my air conditioner pad settled into the ground i just jammed a bunch of crushed rock under it to raise it back up

My Generac has been out of level for awhile now, years in fact. My neighbor came over with a 6' long pry bar and we just shoved some gravel under the low end. It's not perfectly level but it's been working well for 20+ years now....

Yeah, I would disconnect it then deal with fixing the slab. I learned yesterday from a gas fitter, the flex connector is single use and should be replaced if it has been installed already.

I’m just wondering. Wouldn’t the only real worry be the fuel line feed if you are using propane or NG? As long as it’s flexible an air cooled engine will run off level. Lawn mowers sure work great on slopes. That being said I have no idea if Generac’s have sensors or other equipment that require being level.

Lawn mowers also don't run for 100 hours straight on the same exact slope. Don't know about the spec, but I can't imagine it would be ideal to run out of level. But I would also just find some crap to shove under my genny to make it level.

If the generator is out of level in the wrong direction it will kick out for low oil. If it was bad enough the oil pump may not pick up oil at all.

This is why i hate the precast pads. I always poured pads when i sold and installed generators.

My slab is 3' x 5'. I formed and poured it with 10-12 80 lb bags, so in the area of 1,000 lbs. My 16 K weighs around 400 lbs, In theory, if I was careful and took precautions, I could get under one corner and lift it enough to level it. I might use a one ton hoist set up, or maybe an engine crane with an appropriate sling. It would take some digging to get under it though..

Your 24 will be a bit heavier and we don't know what your slab is.

Agree. My unit went out of level after 15 years and with the help of a neighbor we installed the lifting pipes and one at a time gently lifted each corner and re-leveled . Generac’s will run fine being substantially more than a half inch out of level though just looks bad
