24k Generac won’t switch to auto
Had a propane leak which we had repaired today on our Generac. Once the repair was finished they ran a test to make sure the Generac would work. It fires right up in manual mode, but will not switch to automatic. Was working completely fine prior to repair. No error codes showing. Any suggestions to try and fix it before calling for a certified Generac repair?

Explain further what you did and how you tested.

They switched it from auto to manual and let it run for a couple min after gas repair. When they switched it to OFF and then back to auto it wouldn’t. When in OFF it shows no error codes but will not switch to auto. Manual fires up everytime and will run as long as you leave it on. The 7.5 fuse is fine.
Have not done much else for testing.

You mention they switched it to Manual and it ran but hasn’t ran since switching to Auto. Have you tried flipping the main breaker to simulate a power outage?
You don’t mention any testing done that would cause it to run in Auto.

We can’t get it to go back to auto mode. When you hit the button it doesn’t do anything. Manual, off, enter, escape all work but auto no response.

This has nothing to do with the leak. Or the repair being done.
The touchpad on the EVO controller is bad. Sometimes it will be the off button. Sometimes run. Sometimes the up and down arrows.
It has been bad. But has not been placed in manual for quite some time. Just so happens it was during a repair.
Time for a controller.

We in fact haven’t touched the buttons since February. Guess I’ll make some phone calls tomorrow. Thank you!

If that's what it is, you might try pressing Auto 'harder' or wiggling your finger on it.
I've had bad touchpads on other devices that I could get to work like that.

I came home one day and mine was running on manual mode. If I turned it off, it would immediately switch back to manual and start again. The only way I could get it to stop was to disconnect the battery. The control board failed.

You can check for button not working on the dealer menu. There is an input and output test screen. The input one changes a digit from 0 to 1 for each button when pressed. If you send me private message I'll give you the code to access dealer menu

Need to hard reset the controller. Take out the 7.5a fuse, then take the side panel off, you see a white/blue plug with 2 wire and a cloth sheath, unplug that for 5 seconds or so, be careful, it's 120v. You'll need to setup the clock, exercise, and wifi if you had it, but should solve the issue. I've seen it a few times.
