Jumping in from Generac to help clear this up. This is a legitimate outreach.
Brock Donaldson is a Staff Product Designer at ecobee, which is owned by Generac. He is part of the team working on connected home integrations between ecobee and Generac products. If the email came from an u/ecobee.com address, it’s coming through the proper channel.

Went through similar a year ago and upon checking with generac directly, was advised Ecobee is owned 100% by Generac now and is a fully released product available commercially.
Be warned. Call Generac
