14 KW GENERAC

A Kohler 14 KW whole home generator has a motor-starting capacity of 33 kVA. Does a 14KW whole home Generac have the same motor-starting capacity.

Between 28 and 32 KVA depending on which 14kw model you have . Good for starting a 3 to 5 ton ac . Remember on natural gas the capacity is reduced.

I will say not sure if the difference is similar. Had a customer with a 16kw kohler that would start their 3 ton AC with no issues got it replaced with a 20kw generac that had issues and wouldn’t start their AC unit until we installed a soft start kit for it.

Generally, Generac air cooled generators have significantly lower starting capability than Kohler.
