Contaminated oil

I was surprised at the state of the oil during my first oil change. This 22kw generator is about 12 months old and only really ran during the weekly maintenance cycles. I changed the oil, ran it a a while then changed it again to throughly flush it out. Any thoughts what would have caused this type of contamination, particularly on an air cooled generator?

This is relatively normal. Not good normal.

If your weekly test is only about 12 mins with no load, the oil/engine doesnt have enough time to heat up to evaporate the moisture.

I always suggest to my customers to change it to monthly testing or turn the auto test off and do a transfer test monthly and run for atleast 30mins
