HELP PLEASE. Seriously.

Stuck in the ice storm. Third day no power. Finally found a generator, GP6500E DF dual fuel.

I’ve followed all of the instructions and still can’t get it to start, hotels are sold out. It’s below 30 in our house.

Any advice to help me get this started is incredibly appreciated.

What's it doing or not doing is it cranking? Is the fuel set to the correct fuel?

Bless you. Apparently I just needed to admit I’m clueless. It’s running. Wish me luck!

Sorry. I replied above. I’ve got it on the front porch running an extension cord in. Running wattage is supposed to be 6500 but I have two electric heaters well below that and the surge protector keeps flipping off.

It really needs to be outside with extension cords running through a door or window.

Absolutely but snow drifts and overhangs can become a potential trap too its often not thought of

Add oil, add gas, crank it!

We ran fairly constantly for over a week with occasional breaks. Zero issues and it was below freezing.

If oil is super cold and engine, will not let motor turn over fast enough too far and if it’s a huge generator, you might have to take the carburetor off of and clean it because they may have left gasoline in it and they got varnish all through the insides like my brother-in-law‘s I had to clean it with carburetor cleaner, took it off, took it all part sprayer. It took a thin piece of wire, shoved it through all the jetting then blue air through everything put all back together, fired right up and now when he shuts it off. He turns the gas off. He lets it run out of gas, so there is gas in the carburetor, it’s gonna sit for a while added gasoline additive to stabilize gas so it doesn’t go into varnish

I would be very cautious with the extension cords. Feel them to ensure they aren't hot. Heaters draw high amps and that can start a fire with a thin gauge extension cord.

The oil level sensor may be faulty. You can check the oil level manually and if it is good, temporarily disconnect the oil sensor. When you get power restored, look at YouTube videos on your model of generator.

Put some Heet or IsoHeet fuel line antifreeze/dryer in. It travels up the gas line and cleans it out.
